DISCLAIMER: This  is for informational purposes only.

Prior to February 2022 my PD symptoms were  stiffness mainly in my head, neck and shoulders, right hand tremor.  I contracted Covid that month and my PD symptoms went crazy, severe tremor all over my body, orthostatic hypotension passing out, I couldn’t walk more than a few steps.  I had to stop working and was essentially bed ridden.

I wanted to share the things that are helping me get my life back.

If you have followed any of my posts you are probably aware that I am a big fan of using various forms of electrical stimulation to augment my return to function.

Base exercises 1. Specific Feldenkrais exercises chosen to address my specific functional deficits.  I picked floor exercises based on a postural correction case study published by the Chiropractic Biophysics group.  2. John Pepper’s fast walking.

I do these exercises  while listening to Bolt’s vestibular Binaural  Beats mp3.  I use bone conducting headphones based on studies that suggest skull vibration stimulates the vestibular system and  that vestibular stimulation may improve balance and function in PWP.

This has improved my posture, balance and stiffness.

I use transcranial direct current brain stimulation tDC (the manufacturer says not to). This I believe reduces the “ratchety” movement in my arms and has reduced my anxiety.

Alternating stimulation in the median and radial  nerves at the wrists   and a Tremor ball.

Reduces the intensity of my tremors.

Best of all I’m back to work!!!

Sounds good. I'm glad things are improving for you. Sounds like you went through a lot. If you had to pick one thing out of all those which do you think that helps the most, besides exercise? 🥊

Great you’re on the mend- it’s scary how an additional issue like a virus can totally floor you. I had a virus last week and decided as it was fairly obvious symptom free I thought my PD had gone crazy but a week later and I’m almost back to previous health

This sounds great! I’m sorry you had Covid though. It’s so scary. Do you mind my asking what you’re using to stimulate your wrists? Is that the tremor ball? I have carpal tunnel syndrome on my right wrist. It’s awful. I just wondered if something like this would help. Other than that I want to try these things :). Thanks!

I use an old muscle stim unit that a chiropractic friend gave to me. From what I've read, to reduce tremor you need alternating, also known as reciprocating stimulation. For example channel "A" stimulates the median nerve for a set period of time, then pauses while channel "B" stimulates, for example the radial nerve. The stimulation alternates / reciprocates / switches, back-and-forth, between channel "A" - median nerve and channel "B" - radial nerve stimulation. This in theory mimics the tremor and can potentially cancel it. Unfortunately most TENS units don't have a reciprocal mode setting. This one seems to...

Like I said, I'm using a muscle stim unit that was used in a chiropractor's office, so make sure the one you acquire has a reciprocal mode function.

I hope this helps.

Hi there. You may want to check with House2 about that. You may have meant to email them, but for some reason it came through to me. But I really haven’t done much with it so I hope house can help you :-).

Hi House2, I have a question about this please:

I use transcranial direct current brain stimulation tDC (the manufacturer says not to). This I believe reduces the “ratchety” movement in my arms and has reduced my anxiety.

Which I think is this gadget: LIFTiD tDCS Device for Improving Focus, Attention, Memory, and Productivity amazon.com/LIFTiD-Improving...

What did you mean by "the manufacturer says not to"?

House2 profile image
House2 in reply toBolt_Upright

It is NOT FDA cleared to treat disease, it is for recreational use only.
