Here, we report synthetic analogues of the naturally occurring terpenoids tanshinone IIA and crytotanshinone, and their IDO1/TDO inhibitory activities using enzymatic and cellular assays.
Liu J, Ren J, Yang K, Chen S, Yang X, Zhao QS. Discovery and biological evaluation of tanshinone derivatives as potent dual inhibitors of indoleamine 2, 3-dioxygenase 1 and tryptophan 2, 3-dioxygenase. Eur J Med Chem. 2022 Mar 16;235:114294.
Tanshinones, lipophilic diterpenes isolated from the rhizome of Salvia miltiorrhiza, have diverse pharmacological activities against human ailments including neurological diseases.
Tanshinone I and IIA are also effective in experimental models of Parkinson's disease, Multiple sclerosis, and other neuroinflammatory diseases.
