If you want to know the future for Parkin... - Cure Parkinson's
If you want to know the future for Parkinson Disease Dr Roger Barker’s Edinburgh Lecture is superb.
And where would one find this lecture?
Is there any actually actionable advice in this hour and 40 minutes?
Not really. He does mention the importance of exercise during the Q&A section towards the end.
It is not about advice PB.
Roger Barker is a neurologist and a researcher in Cambridge U K so you wont see the hype and the word cure used in every sentence like in some places. He has a real gift for explaining complicated matters. He talks of the heterogeneity of PD and progress on subtypes, the role of inflammation in PD, drug repurposing, the prion behaviour of alpha synuclean, where PD starts including an interesting theory from Scandinavia, the newly developing understanding of the immune system and immunotherapy and stem cell therapy world wide. Oh yes and he mentions alot of research, the double blind type.
But that doesn't interest you?
Hi Park Bear !Have you seen Andrew Hubermans' work? He offers actional advice for encouraging plasticity and dopamine production/synthesis (?) on his many youtube videos ....like no need to be afraid to make lots of mistakes and encourage yourself when you do, change your behavior to change your nervous system, cold water applications can be helpful.
I watched the entire video, and although interesting I did not take away any real reason for hope. Just more of the same "we're getting closer" and "greater understanding" catch-phrases that we've all heard over the past 5/10/15 years.
