UPSIT Smell Test & smell training

Has anyone taken the UPSIT smell test? What was your experience? I think my sense of smell is just fine. But I scored 31/40 on the UPSIT test which indicates mild microsmia. I had issues with the test. The paper in the booklets already had a sickening sweet smell which distracted my nose from the smells I was trying to identify. The sweet artificial scents quickly overwhelmed my nose and gave me a headache and the scents lingered in my nose. I thought some of the scents were very weak. Could be due to how hard I scratched them or maybe it’s me. My doc recommended a smell training kit. Those kits use rose, lemon, eucalyptus, and clove. I have 3 of the 4 essential oils already and can smell and distinguish them just fine. Do I just go ahead and smell them 2x a day anyway? I don’t have rose oil. Real rose oil is very expensive.

Do you know someone with roses? Making your own homemade rose oil is fairly easy. Lots of how-to's online.
