Secret Side Effects of Exercising 10 Minutes a Day, Says Science

The reality is that you can get a pretty good workout in just 10 minutes if you do it right. Per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), just 75 minutes per week of vigorous-intensity activity (running, HIIT, etc.) is enough to keep you healthy and fit. That shakes out to roughly 10 to 11 minutes per day of exercise.

I've been doing HIIT on a treadmill for years. I raise the incline to 10% and set the speed at 6MPH. After a warm-up I jump on the machine for a 30 second sprint then jump off for a 90 second recovery. I do this 10 times. I use a heart rate monitor which tells me I hit my maximum heart rate during each sprint.

Since being Dx'd with PD a year ago I've put on 30 pounds. I don't feel like I'm eating much. But I'm constantly bloated. I used to average running 50 miles per week. Each Sunday I ran at least a marathon length or longer. Maybe it's the medication or maybe it's plain depression but I don't do anything other than the HIIT three times a week. Obviously it's not enough exercise to control my weight.

That is very impressive kaypeeoh! When my treadmill died 2 years ago I made the mistake of buying a good non-powered treadmill. Good for the environment, good for me. I hate it. I always just go slow now.

So I used to be bloated all the time until I went low carb. I follow a combination of the Wahls Paleo Plus and the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD). I only eat what is on both diets approved lists. And I only eat during an 8 hour window every day.

I have not been diagnosed with PD. I have REMSBD which they say should lead to PD/LBD/MSA.

Anyway, I am down 30 pounds since April 2nd. From 192 to 162. I never feel bloated and my poop looks a lot better too! The SCD diet has been shown to normalize the microbiome in a study: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/332...

Are you on one of the PD friendly diets they talk about?

Do you have a list of the foods that are approved in both of those plans that you are open to sharing?

I was Dx'd with MS years ago. I saw Dr Wahls on TED talks and ordered her book. I tried the diet but gave up on it. My problem might be that for 40 years I used exercise to control weight and without exercise my weight mushroomed.

BTW, my treadmill died after 10 years and we ordered another one. Should be delivered next week.
