I was listening to a Podcast that Dr Ronda Patrick was on the other day. She said that regular Sauna usage promotes the production of BDNF which assists in brain repair function. She stated that there are a considerable amount of studys to assist in verification of her claim.

Just FYI, they also promote immune health for those with COVID concerns She mentioned as well

Anything that raises the heart rate substantially stimulates BDNF as well as Growth Hormone. This cheap infrared sauna doesn't raise my heart rate much. But the local gyms that have larger better saunas are still locked down.

The sauna at my gym has been re-opened for about a month now. After I work out, I like to sit in there for about 15 min and then take a cold shower,; the cold shower has been shown to increase dopamine by 250%.

250% ?? and for how long ??

I wish I knew the answer to this, but even if it's just a single "shot" of dopamine, I think that it worth it. I think I read that stat on this app. I also swim in a pool with icy cold water this time of the year (before it heats up from the sun) and I've got to feel that, until my body acclimates to the cold water, which is two to three minutes, it is pumping dopamine into my brain.

But is it possible for you to swim in that icy cold water ??

I think, when I should try to do that, I would get dystonia.......

It doesn't cause any dystonia. And after a few minutes, my body is acclimated to the cold and it doesn't both me. I might be exaggerating when I call it "icy" but it is definitely as cold as a cold shower.

Anyone without a home sauna should try hot Epsom salt bath as hot as you could take it - this will certainly raise the heart rate and improve detoxification while activating heat shock protein.
