Like millions of others worldwide my Dad died alone, unable to be visited by his family of respiratory failure caused by covid19.
Remember that when you think it clever or helpful to give the virus a childish playground name or otherwise trivialise the need for a responsible coordinated international response to a global pandemic

My condolences, Richard, I am very sorry for your loss of your father. The separation from family at a time when family is so important is a very sad fact of this virus that is often overlooked or downplayed.
I am extremely sorry for your loss. You often talked about your father and it was clear that you were very fond of him and surely you have done everything necessary for him.
My deepest condolences. My dad passed away in 2003 during SARS and no one could visit him because of the fear that other family members could contract it and go the same way. Eventhough he did not have SARS. You just hv this gutted feeling of loss exacerbated by the fact that you could not say your last goodbye and tell him you loved him. You carry that private grief with you and then you see the same thing repeated years later to thousands of people and you just feel so sad for everyone.Take heart. Your dad knew you loved him❤️
I'm very sorry to hear this Winnie. It's such a loss and especially not being together. It's a reminder for all of us to take special care at this time.
Very sorry to hear. I have a relative who is in critical condition right now, on a ventilator and an induced coma. Millionaire ranchers who scoffed at prevention and defiantly announced that they didn't believe in wearing masks, that was for for deep state liberals who don't know the truth.
So sorry to hear about the loss of your lovely father, so heartbreaking for you that he died without all his family with him. I hope you can take comfort from all your lovely memories of him. Sending you our heartfelt condolences, to you and your family.
Thank you all again for the kind comments. Dad was very special to me. He'd had a good run and cheated death a few times in the last couple of years, but didn't deserve to die of Covid. Nobody does. I've added a fairly recent picture of him with my niece's sausage dog "Banger" in his lap.
He died the morning my Mum received her first vaccine jab. We had worked so hard to shield them from Covid all year - but he was infected whilst in hospital for a bleed into his stoma bag. My Mum, sister and niece all tested negative subsequently
We last spoke to him the day before via Facetime. We were due to arrange another Facetime over the weekend - so the doctors clearly hadn't expected the end to be that near, or we would have been invited in to stay with him. I'm hoping he passed in his sleep.
He was in a regular medical ward, and not ITU - a triage decision forced on an over-run hospital.
My wife's god mother died of Covid the same night. RIP both of them
My sincerest condolences. May he be at peace and know how much he was loved. I have several friends whose parents died alone in the hospital due to COVID. It has been such a horrible tragedy. To watch others trivialize this pandemic has been a blow to all those that have experienced such pain and suffering. Big hugs to you and your family.
Winnie, Heart felt sympathies going your way. Cherish the memories and find comfort in the assurance that Families are forever... and he still lives on.
So sorry to hear of your loss. I lost my Dad on January 16th. My Dad 92 year old was also in a home. Dad/Papa left his mark and every time I take a swim in a cold river or lake, when my head surfaces I will say “Excellent!” Take care and know people are thinking of you and your family.
Thank you, Palm Springs. Yes it’s very difficult to lose anyone even if they are elderly or super elderly like our dads were. People try to console you by saying, “well he was old,” but that doesn’t really help. Like you said, you still don’t want to lose someone.
You have my deepest condolences! This is such a sad time for many of us, who have lost loved ones, due to the COVID! To die alone, with no family being allowed to stay with the dying patient, in their final hours, is just heartbreaking! Praying for you and your family!
My sincere condolences, Winnie. I sure feel your pain as I lost my mother to Flu vaccination side effects. I have pictures of her and "talk" to her every single day. I still don't believe she died following her doctor's insistence for flue vaccine.
Did your dad have any underlying disease? How old was he?
Dad had lots of underlying conditions including Parkinson disease. He'd had them for lots of years and lived a happy life. He died because pneumonia caused by the coronavirus filled his lungs with fluid and he drowned in it
I am so sorry. My dad also just passed away. He had tested positive for Covid, but died of other causes. It was the dilemma of being able to visit him and risk Covid which we were allowed to do, or not. But we were able to see him somewhat although it wasn’t perfect. My heart goes out to you. I know it was a very difficult situation for us and I agree that folks shouldn’t make a joke of such a serious illness.
