Ah, had to scroll back for the caption: “My Fav autographed pic” ✍️ ha ha!
Too funny 🤣
Love it!
Interesting, The greatest boxer of all time has his hands wrapped, ready to put gloves on.
Thank you for this
You’re referring to Sugar Ray Robinson there I presume Gymbag🤔😊
Muhammad Ali said it himself "I am the greatest" and he was, both in boxing and in life.
Sugar Ray was good , so were a lot of boxers but not the greatest.
When Michal J Fox announced to the world that he had PD, Ali called him the next day.
Muhammad was probably the best heavyweight, although I sometimes think Joe Louis might have been. Joe was the champ for about 10 years and would at times fight once a month. And there was only one belt, no WBA/WBC crap. But Muhammad didn’t really think he was the greatest. He always said that Sugar was ‘pound for pound’ the greatest. Here’s his view on the latter: He called Sugar Ray "the king, the master, my idol."
Good to talk about the fight game Gymbag. I boxed a lot as a kid and did reasonably well at college level, winning the welterweight division for U.K. university championship. Maybe a few punches gave me PD?! I certainly saw stars more than once 🤔
I had occasion to have a few rounds in my youth , and I also regret the beating my brain took from sports. Broke a few football helmets and my scull. Lacrosse hard Indian rubber balls I remember well.
We both know that there is no such thing as the best boxer of all time. We would have to ignore people like Joe, and Rocky Marciano .
It seems like everyone does not know about or care about the past . How fast the trends and fads fade and important people and events and ideals are forgotten.
Thanks for posting the picture.
I wonder why he is dressed with his hands wrapped.
That’s the trouble with being an ex history teacher. I probably think about the past more than one should! As a young man, my own hero of ‘my era’ was Hagler, although I would concede that Ray Leonard gave him a boxing lesson in their fight, 🤔☹️
