Roy, what happened? I thought that you were doing well. Did you ever get your right dose/combination of Thiamine/Levodopa?

HDT does nothing for tremor

Roy, have you tried Cannabis oil (CBD)? If you haven't, read what I write below and let's hopefully have a forum discussion about this much maligned "miracle plant" which I have heard about previously but never gave it any serious thought until last week.

I was talking to a friend who mine from Chicago last week and we were catching up after a very long time. In fact, the very last time that we had met, I had not yet been diagnosed. He had very interesting things to say when he heard about my diagnosis.

First, his partner had been diagnosed with cancer and nearly died early last year in 2019. However, after recovery, his partner's uncle who had Parkinson's, told them about the extraordinary results that he had achieved through the oil and how his life had been radically changed. My friend used the word "cure", although that is a loaded word.

Basically, the uncle reported absolute relief from intense tremors that he had suffered from for several years after taking the oil. He could function normally and all of his non motor symptoms disappeared along with the tremors. He is free of all prescription medication and only took the CBD.

His partner , meanwhile had been convinced by the uncle to take CBD, now reports no more pain, cancer is in regression and off all cancer prescription medication and back to work from long term disability and basically has a normal life.

I am tempted to try. It's legal in California and Illinois and likely is in New Mexico too.

how much THC was in it?

Iqbal, I didn't ask. My first obstacle will be my wife who has shot it down in the past because she doesn't want to even go there.

My friend did say that it was medical grade and required a physician's prescription/MMC card.

People have such a bias against cannabis. Successful manipulation from the War on Drugs crowd, and this tendency to not look at the science. Frustrating

Astra7, Yes indeed, LoL . My wife says that by not using Cannabis as a crutch, I had some kind of moral authority over our kids through leading by example 😏😂. She says that I would lose it the moment I turn to Cannabis and risk losing my kids to the war on drugs and they would head over to la la land!🥺😤

Some example! My son "lost" his religion the moment my Parkinson's diagnosis was confirmed🥵

I lost my religion, too, after my best friend died at an young age because of a brain tumor. Last years of his life were extremely ugly. We should follow the science!

Mexico eh , Why ?

Did you find a cut rate , high volume hospital or just someone who agreed to perform the procedure on you when the others would not.

I am sure that there are probably some good hospitals and doctors there , and I am also sure that there are some that are not based on the horror stories.

I think you have a way of quickly making decisions like an old CEO that I once worked for. He did not need all the facts to make a decision and determine a course of action and throw all resources into it. Maybe ponder a bit more, what is the rush ?

I still like that shirt

New Mexico, the US state where he lives.

Juliegrace, Gymbag lives north of the American border. He is more familiar with Cuba where Canadians are allowed guilt free entry. There is a slight dig here that only Gymbag will probably recognize. Hint: it's not about Cuba.

Most people outside the USA probably don't know the difference between the country of Mexico and the Status of New Mexico.

It's okay, Gymbag. History says that our ancestors " "stole" a part of Mexico and called it "New Mexico". They "stole" some more like California and left behind Baja California. You get the idea.

But forever tight friends we are as Nations right, Gymbag?

This is funny! You forgot to say that many Americans think Canada is a US state near Alaska where is very cold. By the way, I'm dual citizen and I love both countries.

Funny but true, my husbandggraduated from NDSU in North Dakota, when he began his career in engineering people in Michigan asked him if it was in Canada?! People know where ND is now thanks to the MSM excoriating the upper midwest for their independent spirit .

Roy, Iqbal was asking about the THC in Cannabis, NOT the Thiamine in B1.

I wrote the long post about CBD in order to give you a chance to try another alternative if your Parkinson's has become so bad that you need DBS.

Despite what my wife says, now that I know of another option, I would keep that in mind should I have the need one day.

Good luck Roy. I know it’s a difficult decision and there are so many options to explore in terms of who does the surgery the best and all that. I was intrigued by PD’s post about CBD. I hope that might be helpful to you. ? 🙂
