Yes, what would you like to know ? My wife and I, age 79-80 and physically active started in February, enjoyed the game very much but it ended in March with Covid restrictions.

Is there a lot of lateral movement like tennis? Is is difficult to coordinate movements and do you consider it strenuous?

Yes, it’s an excellent game and played by many people whose racket skills from tennis and squash transfer well. I actually play with two bats, one in each hand having lost the right backhand due to typical Parkinson’s Disease shoulder issues. Have fun and Good Luck!

Not very often, but I do. It's where over-the-hill tennis players graduate to.

Lol, do you enjoy it when you do play? Do you have any issues with lateral or quick movements?

Yes, I enjoy it when I play. But more so than tennis, it's hard to find someone who is at the same level as you. If your opponent is not at your talent level, it becomes one-sided very quickly....and boring. And yes, I would assume most PWP have issues with quick or lateral movements and have to be extra conscious when positioning themselves for a return shot.

Not for exercise but it’s a blast. Ok it does give you some exercise. 😘

Thanks for your reply. I assume you play golf. I play twice per week and love it.

I think pickleball has helped me retain balance and movement better than any medication.

I play 4 times each week and am absolutely addicted! However, I take exception to the comment about "over the hill tennis players," as many young people in our college town play! We all have great comraderie and love playing together...all ages and levels. It seems much more fun than tennis, maybe because it's not as competitive!

Tennis played with a plastic ball (think wiffle ball) that doesn't carry as far as a regular tennis ball, and racquets are overgrown wooden ping-pong ball racquets.

Thanks for your reply, do you have any issues with the lateral movements?

Not any more than most folks my age (71)! I have been in a PD Boxing class since my diagnosis almost 3 years ago and we do lots of lateral movement exercise in that class. When my Neuro doctor diagnosed me, she told me that her patients who function the best are those who move the most. So I have tried to just keep moving, mainly with Boxing and pickleball and am having lots of fun and meeting very inspiring new friends!

What the heck is pickleball? Never heard of it so went to google:

Pickleball is a paddleball sport that combines elements of badminton, table tennis, and tennis. Two or four players use solid paddles made of wood or composite materials to hit a perforated polymer ball, much like a wiffle ball, with 26-40 round holes, over a net.

That begs the question- what is a whiffle ball??!!
