Parkinson's Right Side

Hello guys I hope everyone is fine and we'll, my father has been suffering from parkinson's disease for about 4-5 years now, it eventually started in his twitch in his right hand and quickly spread to his right leg and arm, but thankfully now it's not progressed any further. The problem is I'm not even sure if it's parkinson's as it's just shows on the right side of the body, he is currently taking sinement to aid with his issue. Please if someone can kindly help me with what they think the problem is and if anyone has any suggestions please I would love to hear.

Thank you guys

" it's just shows on the right side of the body" it's tipical of parkinson to show up on one side of the body.

"taking sinement to aid with his issue" response to levodopa is tipical of parkinson.

IMHO is tipical parkinson.

Though I'm no expert, after seeing many cases as a caregiver, I agree with Lucal that just one side of the body is typical of Parkinson's. I would also like to put out a warning that Sinemet, while working like a charm for 5-8 years, will lose it's effectiveness and have to be increased, whereby causing horrible side effects which may be worse than PD itself. Wish my client had been advised to try Azilect in the beginning, as John Pepper's neurologist had.

I take Rasagaline (generic Azilect) with one lowest dosage of Rytary every morning with 500 mg of B1. Take another B1 PM. That’s it.

Prefer being energetic with tremor than tired from C/L

My understanding if that the sinemet does not lose effectiveness - your body just produces less and less dopamine until the sinemet is unable to fill the gap.

Azilect stops your body from re absorbing excess dopamine leaving more around to be used.

If there is inadequate dopamine in the brain the synapses that utilise the dopamine die and then there is really nothing much you can do or take to make life better.

This is a depressing post. Should I take your advice elsewhere and ignore it?!

I’m sorry if I’ve offended you in any way.I don’t usually wake up to negative feedback. I’ll have to lift my game.

Sinemet doesn't lose its effectiveness in that way. The disease progresses and it is less effective, but it is progressing whether you are using sinemet or not. You can't "save up" your sinemet use for a good 5 to 8 years from years 10 to 15/18.

Sounds like PD to me. Usually starts on one side.
