“Ignore those that make you fearful and sad, that degrade you back towards disease and death.”

I do think your advice is good. But it is incomplete.

In my case, I have suffering bad nights, but without stress and wthout any known reason ! My mind keeps struggling with arithmetical calculations ... - which are useless and emotionally neutral indeed ! But it is like that !!

As we progress into Parkinsons the pain, the freezing the shaking and all the other symptoms increases and of course the ability to function, accomplish something (anything) and have independence diminishes. It is at this point, where a change in attitude is necessary to endure and to continue to endure that attitude must be reinforced . The attitude is associated with the ability to control pain, being active and somehow accepting your fate and making the best of it. This is not unique to Parkinsons. This is Rumi

I said: what about my eyes?

God said: Keep them on the road.

I said: what about my passion?

God said: Keep it burning.

I said: what about my heart?

God said: Tell me what you hold inside it?

I said: pain and sorrow?

He said: Stay with it. The wound is the place where the Light enters you.

Stress is another must avoid. Stress even in small amounts brings on PD. and of course PD is stressful. If you are working in a stressful job or environment you must leave or prepare to leave. If your home is stressful than you must prepare to maybe downsize and relocate to a quiet , and easily maintained house or Condo close to parks and services and make it safe with hand holds etc.

Partners that do not want to be or are not suitable to be care givers or understand the necessity of changes , must be set free and a better life partner found. It is not their fault , they did not sign up to be caregiver and hoping they will change is in my experience usually fruitless.
