My husband recently ordered Syncolein as recommended by someone on this site for tremors, insomnia and moods from PD. The information given sounded so promising and it says it is a medical food made of natural ingredients from plants that are FDA approved. On the website, the common side effects named were gas/bloating. When he got the actual container, it mentions other possible side effects like diarrhea, chest discomfort, cough, dry heaves, runny nose, shortness of breath, sore throat, tightness in the chest, vomiting, headaches, dizziness, nausea, RENAL FAILURE, urinary retention, arm pain and dehydration.
He would like to get relief from his PD symptoms especially the chronic insomnia, but he is afraid of the serious side effects like renal failure.
Would appreciate hearing from anyone who has been using this product long term. Thank you.

My husband has taken it the best part of 2 years with a couple of breaks. He ran out over lockdown and deteriorated but possibly unrelated to the mannitol and more likely the stress. He’s been back on it a week again and still to regain the ground he lost. Possibly all due to stress though.
He hasn’t had any major side effects although possibly it is causing him to want to urinate more. But again it could be other things doing that.
No doubt you’ve seen the “possible” side effects of all drugs. The lists go on and on. We would never try anything if we took any notice. These manufacturers have to cover themselves, just in case.
My husband has his bloods done regularly, including liver and kidney function, because of the possible side effects of his medications. None of these medications have had the amazing effect on him that Mannitol has, but it’s reassuring to have them done.
I hope Mannitol works for him as well as it has for my husband. It’s been a life changer for us.
I'm glad you posted; this has helped us figure out (I think) what has been causing my husband's feet and lower legs to be swelling so much more lately. He thought it might be associated with a med he'd started recently, then thought it might be what he takes twice a day to help with the night time frequent urination, but looks like it is probably the Syncolein that he started about 2 weeks ago. Tomorrow morning he will discontinue use and see how much difference it makes. His feet and legs started swelling at least 1 1/2 years ago. When his primary care doc did blood tests for kidney function and listened to his heart she said nothing showed up as a red flag, which would have been about 6 months or so ago. This is the only side effect we've noticed to date from the mannitol.
But about your husband's trying Syncolein, I'd say to try it out and just watch for any side effects.
I just tried to order syncolein and my money was refunded immediately through paypal. No email was sent back as to why my order was rejected. Biofinest brand of mannitol is out of stock for awhile now. Guess I have to go with Bulk Supplements. I’m a little concerned how much backup supply I should keep on hand in case I can’t order more.
