Do PWP qualify for the free food parcel to be delivered ?

My husband is over 70 has PD dx 8yrs now, on lots of meds as you all know, he also has asthma and HBP, it says to stay in for 12 weeks because he is vulnerable but we haven’t received a letter regarding any help or saying he will be eligible for the parcel scheme .

I know some people that have had letters, just wondered maybe PD is not a severe enough illness as far as they are concerned?

Comments greatly appreciated xx

I would also be interested to know. On the first list PD was not included but on a later list neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s were. I have not received a letter and wondered if it would be worth contacting my GP.

It’s not clear at all, yet on the news earlier they show a PWP at home with his wife, who needs to let 4 carers in the home 4 times a day to see to her husband!

Why use this as an example, if PWP are not in high risk group?

Over 70, has PD, asthma, high blood pressure, I am 61 with mental health problems. We have no children and no one that lives close to help us.

I can’t understand it 2 people on my road have had letters, and food parcels, other neighbours shop for them, and they have family calling all the time, I will contact GP that’s if I can get through. Good luck and keep safe xx

Do you have a “village agent” where you live? In our area they can put you in touch with local helpers. The local council is also providing the same service. We also had a call from the local Vicar offering help. Because PD is no longer on the list, I can’t even get the chemist to add me to their delivery list for medication.

Sorry to hear about the lack of clarity about who gets help. I understand that the Red Cross are about to mobilise their trained volunteers after spending the last couple of weeks getting the response organised. It should happen later this week. I expect it will be very well organised and will target those who don’t have people looking after them. I hope they may be able to help you.

Best wishes

I believe that by the time they had honed down the list to people at exceptionally high risk from the virus, they had dropped some conditions such as PD which had been mentioned at first. Even my brother, with quite advanced emphysema, hasn’t had a letter.

Sorry to hear that I hope he has someone to help him shop and keep an eye on him xxx
