From the National Post Canada

Friday March 13

Italy is very hard hit with a death rate much higher than the world average because it has such an elderly population.

They have had over 1000 deaths.

45 % aged 80 to 89

32 % in their 70 's

14% over 90

8 % in their 60"s

2 % aged 50 to 59

note that it adds up to 101 %

which means that they dont have a lot of space for deaths of people under 50

Your grand children will be fine , they will just kick it off like a cold , but they are carriers.

Isolation is working in China. I did not wait for our government to do anything, it would be too little too late. Nobody comes into our house, garage or back yard for the next 3 to 4 weeks except the two of us.

Italy's death count is at 1,441 from 21,157 confirmed cases.

Here is a regularly updated link for confirmed cases and death count by country.

That is a 6.8 % death rate which is more than double the world average but similar age groups involved same as world averages. It is reported that children and young adults seem to be almost immune except for those with pre-existing respiratory health problems.

Let's not forget also of 2000 total recovered.

IMHO are all numbers below estimated, dead apart . The only way out is to let the virus run its course so that flock immunity is created , trying to save as many lives as possible.

Virus 🦠 is too contagious it would seem that it resists more than 10 hours on metal surfaces.

Here all Italy data:

"it resists more than 10 hours on metal surfaces."

Close but no cigar. it can last 10-14 days, but believe what you want.

My daughter had my wife and I self-isolate ourselves, a few days ago. We are both elderly with multiple medical conditions, that leave us vulnerable. She planned on at least 30 days. We live in Michigan, USA. It looks like it could be more like 3 months!

I think 3 months might be right. We old people are all in the same boat, no matter where we are , Look after your selves and each other. Good luck.

Baby Boomers are being hit, first they trash our ideals by taking every thing we fought for to the extreme , then we get an almost designed for us pandemic perfect storm and now the stock market is wiping out our pensions. I hope every body over 60 , when this mess is over spends their bank account on wine and song and leaves nothing to these gen- xers that are talking about the positive effect on climate change by this pandemic. I hope, someday they freeze in the dark trying to get their electric vehicle to work.

Thanks for the reply! All of us old ones need to stick together, cause the young whippersnappers are in a different frame of mind, than we are - or so it seems!

?? You literally just said it was your daughter that encouraged you to self isolate

Pass this on to the young 'uns, and anyone else who is taking a cavalier attitude.

~~Dick and Jane BOTH show early symptoms of the Coronavirus. Jane STAYS HOME, gets tested and awaits her results. Dick goes to work, stops for a quick drink at the local bar, pops by his parents house, hits the gym, begins to feel worse (eh, but even if he does have it, he's healthy, so he'll recover quickly). Dick finally decides to get tested. Both Dick and Jane get positive test results. Jane infects no one once she started to show symptoms. Dick potentially infects dozens, if not hundreds, by his SELFISH behavior. Be like Jane. Don't be a Dick.~~

One city in the US has already declared a general curfew, making it a crime to be out after 10 pm.
