Why do I all of a sudden feel angry, frustrated, weepy and ready to kill anyone who speaks to me. This also coincides with a bout of the shakes. I think I am going mad.
Am I going mad?: Why do I all of a sudden... - Cure Parkinson's
Am I going mad?
Well, as a lay person not of the medical field, speaking very straight forward, yes I think you are. However, having said that, the fact that you recognize that means that you have the capability of seeking help from the appropriate sources and are most assuredly able to get the help you need and turn your life around. Only withdrawing and doing nothing would be "mad". Best of luck.

Nanster, the fact that you realize you have a problem is a very good sign. You certainly need to see a physician to do some testing for blood sugar levels, thyroid panel, may be ammonia which in high levels can cause sudden changes in mood/ personality, etc.
B12 deficiency can also cause behavioral changes, however blood test is not very accurate, so along with serum b12 you would need to have tests for Homocysteine and Methylmalonic Acid which indirectly indicate B12 levels in organs.
Hope you'll find the cause of your mood changes and will be able to address it. Keep us posted!
Thanks for your input, I forgot to mention I am also bi-polar and I have a low thyroid. Anyway I will be visiting the doctor this week.
I hope you will also look carefully at any changes you might have made in your routine of medications or supplements. Sometimes it can be something that's obvious but we overlook it. Good luck at doctor appointment!
You need some good coordination between doctors to medicate between PD and Bipolar. Dopamine is involved in both and meds can conflict. However, there are some meds used for both.
To much cardopa levadopa will make you have mood swings. Check out Dr. Joe dispenza on YouTube meditation is Very calming
Are you taking ALL the medication for the Bipolar every day the way you are supposed to. Have you heard voices and do inanimate objects like photographs talk you. Are you afraid all the time. Do you leave yourself notes because sometimes you are not there. Call a taxi, go to the hospital emerge and explain to them what is wrong, tell them the answers to my questions. Try not to worry and get upset.
I feel bad like this often. I chalk that up to depression. Your case is worsened by bipolar disorder. Just please see your doctor immediately and let us know what you are safe.
“Mad” is a word thrown around loosely.
In addition to pvw2's comment.....L-dopa can also interfere with thyroid medication. I just found out mine was really off and had to make a large adjustment and feel sooo much better.
I heard a movement disorder specialist speak recently about mood and depression. She said PD does not only result in dopamine levels being low but many other neurotransmitters as well like serotonin that helps regulate mood. She said if the tank is low, why would you not fill it up? She highly recommends antidepressants for PWP and said she is not really a pill pusher for PD meds until really needed. She noted that the perception of symptoms, pain etc is much worse when your other neurotransmitters are low. Just food for thought. I am going to discuss with my MDS at next visit.
No, sounds common enough, part of the neurolgy, chemistry, and even toxicology of many processes and disorders as they progress across along the normal-to-not-so-normal behavior and experience band. To emotions like hot flashes are to menarche and menopause. Not in all forms or phases necessarily to all versions of PD, not limited to just PD either, and seen as secondary to many disorders and also as a "primary" condition in its own right, so be careful on attributing too much toward something you (and anyone here) are familiar with vs. not. Too many possibilities to try to get it right here, and getting it wrong could prove disastrous. Get seen.
What you are going through sounds very like my experience of panic attacks. I have been having a lot more lately due to the change from Sinemet to the generic substitute, if you've had any changes to your medication lately that could be the reason it's happening. I couldn't work out for a while why I was getting attacks out of the blue; finally I realised the panic attacks can be triggered by too much or too little dopamine, not just by my own negative thinking. Normally I rely on deep breathing and positive thinking to get me through, but I wasn't coping with this at all. So last week my doctor put me on Escitalopram until I get the best timing of the tablets worked out, which is helping. I also use homeopathic Aconite when I am getting paniccy, Rescue Remedy works too. Hope this helps, if nothing else remember you're not alone
