6 minute video turns keto and low-carb di... - Cure Parkinson's
6 minute video turns keto and low-carb diet on its head- .
Wow. "Millions of dollars in compensation".
This all seems to be about weight loss or type of weight loss. For PwP the interest in Keto is for any neurological benefits including affect of inflammation. Unfortunately, there seems nothing on this.
Talks nothing about neurological benefits, only about fat loss. Two different things when it comes to Parkinson’s and kids with uncontrollable seizure benefits.
One paper does not a conclusion make . . . however, there is enormous logic in these findings and so I put significant credence in the theory that keto diets are helpful to people with neurological conditions because ketosis increases the body's production of NAD+. Fortunately for patients with neurological conditions, one can boost production of NAD+ immensely WITHOUT going keto:

Nicotinamide riboside is uniquely and orally bioavailable in mice and humans

and lets not forget Niagen is in clinical trials for treatment of Parkinson's as we speak:

and for those new here or new to my posts or new to the Niagen discussion it is imperative to understand the Niagen is a NEW form of vitamin B3 that is unlike the older forms of B3 and is VERY different as it enhances Sirtuin activity in the body unlike ALL the older forms of vitamin B3 that INHIBIT Sirtuins, and Sirtuins are the things that scientists discovered that are found in the likes of blueberries and red wine that help people live longer.

Reminds me of kondratief. A Russian economist in the 30s tasked with showing the 29 stock market crash proved Marx theory of the ultimate collapse of capitalism and found instead the economic long wave phenomenon, effectively proving the opposite. He was sent to a gulag for that.
Fits what I was taught, and posted on another thread about keto, that if you cut carbs you risk burning protein. Worse, it seems, you risk burning your own body mass protein.
Now it may not have been about keto as a diet for PD, but the protein burning issue remains a bad side effect
