Hello all! Has anyone heard of Joy Milne? Based on the scent of someone she can tell them if they have PD. It’s so compelling that her results have been researched and because of her gift they are developing a swab test to determine if someone does have PD. Enjoy!
Smelling PD: Hello all! Has anyone heard of... - Cure Parkinson's
Smelling PD
Yes, saw it on the news last week. Looking forward to the day we have a CURE ! That would be some real news.
I saw the clip on the today show. Very interesting.
Yes, I can smell it too!
You can??
U Can ??
I think I can, too. It’s very unusual, a little like mothballs and dirt and rotting food?
and vinegar LOL. I thought it was from the pills...
How is your husband doing now a days?
Hi, very sleepy and gaining a lot of weight...He doesn't eat dinner because pills upset his stomach so much...He might be a closet eater, I just don't see him eat much of anything and yet he is really big which is impacting his mobility. Maybe Parkinson's just slows down everything, including your metabolism? Not sure. Thanks for asking. How are you doing?
Not too bad considering his recent stent procedure with near fatal complications. His fatigue was a problem but he is improving every day. We walked yesterday and he almost had 10,000 steps on his fitbit.
He is the opposite to your husband, he lost a lot of weight on a keto diet, but when he stopped it he continued losing weight. Now he is trying to gain weight. PD affects differently each PwP.
Dr. Laurie Mischley has two dogs she has trained to detect it.
When my mom started having her first, very mild and very unfrequent symptoms and she was not yet even diagnosed with PD, long before she started taking PD meds, a complete stranger told her that she smells like she has PD.
Omg!! Wow!! I know its supposed to smell musty, greasy and unpleasant but I have yet to smell it on myself. 🧐
I think it gets on peoples clothes and doesn’t wash off so I soak my husband’s clothes in nappysan before washing as otherwise it gets on the other washing. I think it may be from oily skin.
My husband had the smell when I met him 20 years ago when he was 39 and he has only just been diagnosed now at 58 . I can smell it in his drawers of clothes even though they have been well washed😞
Do any of you think that this happens to every patient that has PD?
Can't smell it on my husband, diagnosed March 2018. Don't know about later. . .
Mine had it 20 years ago, way before diagnosis. I thought it was just different pheromones.
Try opening his drawers of clothes that have been sitting for long periods untouched and see if you can smell it on them.
Still no smell. . .except lavender that I use in all of our drawers, closets, laundry, dryer, etc. I also use baking soda and vinegar in the washer adding it to laundry natural soap (no perfumes or other harmful chemicals).
Maybe the vinegar and baking soda serve the same purpose as the nappysan. I'm not sure if it is bacteria or fatty residues off his skin. What does his pillow smell like? Does it get very greasy quickly?
Interestingly he doesn't seem to have such a strong smell now that he is on the supplements that he is on. Your husband takes supplements doesn't he? i think they must aid digestion and kill bacteria in the system so perhaps that reduces the smell too?
I have been using baking soda and vinegar for a number of years. No, his pillow's smell hasn't changed since we got married. His forehead gets a little oily, but he uses hydrogen peroxide on a pad and cleans it a couple of times a day.
He takes supplements, and you are right they help digestion, especially the liquid probiotics (MaryRuth). I highly recommend this probiotic.
Dr. Laurie's dogs are 100% on detecting the PD folks, but will call out false positives so yes I think we all smell. My boyfriend smells it on me and Laurie's dogs mark me.
