There is broad denial of the adverse effects of EMFs in our environment. I knew someone who was adversely affected by too close proximity to wifi modems/routers

You mean in their house? how close? Thanks

park_bear in reply to TL500

Roughly speaking I believe having it in the same room was too close and having it in another part of the house was adequate separation.

I wish it weren't so, but Wi-Fi looks like it is definitely relevant to PD, and not in a good way.

I have enough problems on my plate that I'd be content to forget about the issues and potential problems of having many new microwave emitters in my town, in my house, and in my hand. My city is one of the world's first to get 5G cell networks, which puts it at odds with other municipalities such as Brussels and Geneva that have at least temporarily banned them for reasons of health and safety.

The safety testing for cell phones was firmly based on the presumption that only potential problems came from the potential for increased temperature. They ignored or discounted other modalities for harm.

I would have preferred your article if it had links or references to the studies it describes.

I did find this meta-review:

Wi-Fi is an important threat to human health (2018)

sciencedirect.com/science/a...

This article lists 7 kinds of harm that should be considered "established effects" of Wi-Fi, owing to repeated findings in a majority of reviews.

I'm unhappy to read that three of these effects include oxidative stress, apoptosis (cell death), and neuropsychiatric changes.

I guess that does make it "on topic" for this forum, however.

Wait, it gets worse. EMFs can also negatively affect mitochondria.

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...

"Several studies showed that the exposure of different cell types to a 50 Hz ELF-EMF induced an increase in intracellular ROS levels that was able to trigger a temporary mitochondrial permeability transition." The mitochondrial permeability transition is what triggers cell death, and it is instrumental in Parkinson's disease.

In the USA, 5G (which is basically Wi-Fi everywhere) is being rolled out on the lowdown. Under the 1996 Telecommunications Act prohibits local governments from making decisions based upon negative health impacts from the wireless industry.

Meanwhile, leaders from around the world take the harmful effects much more seriously such as “Switzerland, Italy, France, Austria, Luxembourg, Bulgaria, Poland, Hungary, Israel, Russia and China have set RF exposure limits 100 to 10,000 times less than the USA. They recognize that there can be non-thermal biological effects from wireless radiation.”

thefoghornexpress.com/singl...

!!!! There is a major international appeal by 248 EMF scientists begging the UN, the World Health Organization, sovereign state to please stop and reassess the health risks of 4G and 5G antenna rollout.

emfscientist.org

They are backed by 105 local NGOs from around the world.

Thanks Elliot. This is informative. Don't know how we can get away from it!

I encountered a video a while back in which the presenter metered the radiation from cellphones with and without Flight Mode. Flight Mode was shown to prevent radiation. I'm trying to get into the habit of putting my phone into Flight Mode during the day when I don't need the WiFi. I also try to turn off the WiFi when I don't have to use it. In this country, South Africa, they're getting ready for 5G without any hesitation. Sad.

That sounds doable. Thanks M1tz1.

I don't know if it's enough but it's something. 😀

There are also devices to attach to your cel phone which I believe reduce or eliminate EMF. I have such a device on my cel phone. Mercola had a very interesting and informative article on EMF. My cel phone wifi is always off, don't use or need it.

My trade is electrical engineering. Electrical engineers have expertise with EMFs. Cell phones using the regular cellular network emit extremely powerful EMFs - much stronger than WiFi and accordingly more impactful. There are no devices one can attach to a cell phone to cause to not emit EMFs - any such device would be a non-starter because the cell phone would then no longer be able to make calls.

If you must use a cell phone / smart phone, get earbuds that let you talk without holding it up to your face.

Thanks, PB. I only use my cel phone to make very few phone calls or texting. I always use the speaker so I don't have it next to my face. :) I am not a fan of cel phones and never was. All I see now going out shopping, even to a restaurant, is people's faces buried in their smart phones.

Technology is killing everyone, unfortunately.

Have yuo read the book?

Is there any simple things we can do? Thanks.

The book is about research results.

For what to do consider suggestions on this page.

Our fast cable internet router was installed in the bedroom and my husband’s head was only 50-60 cm away. We normally turn it off at night but he would often forget or have naps during the day with it on. When he was diagnosed I rang and asked them to move it and said he had PD and they came very quickly and moved it , no charge.

I have just bought an emf measuring device and have been measuring RF, electrical and magnetic frequencies. The microwave sends radiation across the kitchen into the next room. The cordless phone base is also very strong. A lot of our walls seem to bounce radiation off them from who knows where. I think it may be the outside heat pump units. Around light dimmers, power points and wires in the wall, and speakers from our stereo read very high even when switched off unless they are unplugged. We have changed to a corded phone. Cellphones and wifi we switch off overnight. The kids PlayStation wireless headphones have been swapped for wired in ones.

Yes I was shocked to discover my cordless phone system was continually emitting high levels of EMF even when not in use. This is completely unnecessary. I too have switched to corded phones only. My computers likewise have wired ethernet - I turn the WiFi on only for guests.

The microwave is less of an issue because it is only on for minutes during the course of the day.

Oh yes, that’s true the microwave isn’t on long. Didn’t think of that. But it is very strong.

park_bear profile image
park_bear in reply to LAJ12345

My radiation from my microwave is strong only close up. If yours is a concern might want to consider another model.

Yes Im thinking that too. Hate to throw away something that’s seems to be working perfectly though so at the moment we evacuate the kitchen when it’s on😊
