I could not believe the cost of this new med.

Acorda's Parkinson's med Inbrija to cost as much as $58K per year. Acorda Therapeutics (NASDAQ:ACOR) has priced Parkinson's disease med INBRIJA (levodopa inhalation powder) at $32/dose. The recommended dosing regimen is 1 - 5 doses/day which translates to $11,680 - 58,400 per year.Feb 15, 2019.

There is copay help, but not if you’re on Medicare.

Something is so wrong here.

Go to Inbrija.com and see if they offer assistance. Many drug companies do if you meet their criteria. I get help with my RA med and I am on SS with a Medicare Advantage plan.

That's what pharmacology is all about...first donate lots of money to the medical schools to teach the med students that only man-made meds can heal. Then do lots of research...and charge lots of money for the meds, but don't cure the disease, just temporarily relieve the symptoms, for a cured patient is a poor customer, for both the doctor and the pharmacist!

Let's not get carried away here. This is basically an "OFF" period drug. The FDA approve it in December of 2018, but it has undergone Phase I, II, and III (339 participants) clinical trials (funded primarily by the MJF foundation) which were deemed successful in terms of improving the motor skills in OFF. The percentage of patients improving PGIC and "OFF to ON" in clinical trial III was relatively low at 25%. Good but nothing great. Adverse events were consistently greater than the control group in a longer term study.

Therefore, it may see some neurologists prescribe it as long as it actually proves its efficacy in the real world. We won't really know until sometime 3-4 years down the road. At the projected price, it better provide relief to more than 25% of those taking it.
