I am writing this post with my voice. It feels liberating to do so.
One of the areas which Parkinson's disease affects the most is my right hand and my right arm. I am right-handed, so this is a significant handicap. Like many of you, I suffer from micrographia. I also have a hard time typing with my right hand. I do so, but I quickly become fatigued. It's a struggle, it's uncomfortable, and it slows me down a lot.
I got a new computer months ago, but it's only now that I've finally gotten around to installing my voice recognition software on it. I mean, the windows computer COMES with voice recognition software, but it's not as good as the software I have now installed.
For the record, I have a Windows 10 machine and I am using a slightly outdated version of Dragon NaturallySpeaking. I am using version 13, and it suits my needs. Version 15 is now available, but it is more expensive. I also use an Andrea headset with microphone.
I just feel relieved to be having this up and running. I feel like I can communicate effectively again. This is much faster, and much more comfortable than trying to type.
The transcription accuracy this message has been nearly flawless.
