Madopar shortage

Boots in the UK tell me they cannot supply Madopar 100/25 capsules at the moment because of a problem at the manufacturers. They do not know when it will be available again. Anyone else been told this?

This is worrying news. I use the same medication and my local independent pharmacy has been experiencing problems with supply this past week. They are a smaller outfit than Boots and I fear that they might be more vulnerable to supply glitches, I will try to telephone them later today for the latest news and then post an update here. I am still owed most of my current prescription. I just hope they can deliver soon or it will be a case of going back to my GP and asking for an alternative medication. Incidentally, I am based in Herts.

I have been having the same problem with Sinemet, i have been given 4 different brands lately as they can't get the ones that I have been stable on for 3 years. Some of the replacements give me horrible side effects. It is a real worry as I am going travelling soon and don't want to be unwell when I am on the other side of the world. It seems to be happening with many medicines across a range of conditions, what on earth is going on?

Madopar is available in Canada, under the name Prolopa. The 25/100 are certainly . I was told to avoid the 5/200 capsules due to adsorption variability.
