Parkinson's Disease Clinical Trials using Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs)

Bone marrow is the primary source of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), but they can also be isolated from adipose (fat) tissue, peripheral blood, dental pulp, placenta, umbilical cord tissue, and cord blood.

There is currently one PD clinical trial (NCT02611167 -Texas) using intravenously injected bone-marrow-derived MSCs. It is scheduled to be completed late this year.

There are currently two PD clinical trials (NCT03684122 - Jordan, NCT03550183 - China) using intravenously injected umbilical-cord-tissue-derived MSCs.
