I’m sitting at my computer, pleased that you would ask. After spending years following an intensive cycling program, I injured myself kicking someone in a REM dream. I kicked the nightstand as hard as I could and pretty well did in my big toe joint. It was operated on in June 2016 and the recovery was so slow I wasn’t able to cycle. In August 2016 we rafted through the Grand Canyon for two weeks, during which time my kneecap on the same leg dislocated multiple times (7 on one day!). That was operated on in September. Rehab on the toe hurt the knee and vice versa. It is only in the last month that I have been able to ride the bike for an hour at a time at 80-90 rpm. My advice: Don’t screw up in the first place. Recovery is long and arduous. I still retain positive effects from the plasma infusions at Stanford. We hiked around part of Mt. Blanc this summer. I didn’t have the endurance to do the whole thing. And we’re going to Norway to experience the Aurora Borealis. At 73, the box is showing some wear. Hope you are well.
So lovely to hear from you! I have had quite an eventful year! Ruptured biceps and rotator cuff tear in June playing tennis.. Had an amazing cruise in Sept to celebrate my 70 th.Now back in Spain for the winter. Shoulder and biceps are healing, playing tennis twice a week and getting out on the bike 50km twice a week. Having problems with Madopar/ dyskinesias but just about coping with it. Hope to go skiing next month and planning trip to USA in March.Mont Blanc heh? Must have been wonderful. We are looking at Norway or Iceland to see Aurora Borealis. If you get there b4 us let us know if it was worth it! Regards Bazillion
Glad to hear from you, Nan. Great to see your words, full of adventure and
courage. I was then and now.

This seems to be the fine line we walk as we try to get enough exercise and yet not injure ourselves. I would just like to go full out with exercise but now that I've had a few injuries I am leaning more to the careful side of things and not pushing myself as much. It seems that the older I get the more possible repetitive motion injury gets. The old body doesn't want to do anything for too long. I'm taking a yoga class for people with PD and an exercise class 2 days a week for people with PD. Very helpful when all of us have the same problem and others understand when you have to take a break or modify movement.
