Cochran Regimen

Has anyone ever heard of the Tim Cochran foundation? He seems to have been rather successful in combating Parkinson's Disease and helping people with it but I can find so little on it online and to my surprise I couldn't find anything on here. I was put to researching this by a friend who says her son was healed from PD by rubbing magnesium oil and Glutamate all over his body about 15 to 20 minutes before taking a shower and eating clean and avoiding all sugar ( yikes and horrors )

I think the magnesium (also when taken orally) could be helpful for cramps in possibly constipation. And dietary changes to reduce sugar should be part of everyone’s approach to life. There’s some very interesting work being done on addressing pre-diabetes and blood sugar levels in general to address aspect of Parkinson’s The rest of it doesn’t seem to have much in the way of science.

It’s important to remember that there are a lot of things that look like Parkinson’s there are actually not. Some of these issues, such as drug induced parkinsonism, may resolve over time. Whenever I see someone claiming to be cured, I’m pretty skeptical in general although I don’t typically imply any malfeasance (unless they’re selling something)

But is quite possible that their initial diagnosis was faulty or their current assessment of their disease is not accurate.

Regardless, long as the recommendations are really benign, and you’re not supplanting something with a little more science behind it (such as exercise), I think everyone is entitled to try anything. Just be careful about spending money that would be better spent in other ways. It’s not so benign if the opportunity cost is that you don’t have money or time to do regular exercise, eat better, get more sleep etc.

That’s my 2 cents....

Eating healthily and reducing sugar sound reasonable. Otherwise...

I can't find any clinical research to verify Cochrane's approach in regards to slowing Parkinsons -although for anyone a low sugar, amino acid-rich diet would, I imagine help maintain general health. this is a big claim and its 18 years old...'About 50 percent of the Parkinson's patients treated with the Cochran Regimen show dramatic improvement, and another 25 percent show moderate improvement, while the remaining 25 percent show little or no improvement. Cochran is continuing to work on the Parkinson's problem, trying to determine why patients with the same level of symptoms have such different responses to the Regimen, some recovering substantially, and others partially or not at all.'

Everything he is quoting is in this link, ( which is not working today but the one i posted first in my original mention above does work.) drpasswater.com/nutrition_l...

It made me very curious, since my husband has emptied quite a few very large bottles of B-1 with no encouraging results for him. He was taking on an empty stomach and also with meals. Neither way has made him see enough of results to keep motivated to take it. Dr. Al Sears in Florida somewhere is giving PWP IVs with stem cells in it with reportedly very encouraging results according to a Doctor I was put in touch with when we were were in Mexico for some cancer treatment. however, it probably is very expensive. Also look up Lenny Ricci from Long Island on FB . He was being coached by a DR. Dick Kolt on FB ( look him up too and he feels he is on to something). i would post the links but my FB is not connecting this morning.

This is in the article ; " Cochran is correct in his approach. In PD he is focusing on improving the cell's content of the antioxidant glutathione. The secret is getting more glutathione inside of the neural cells, not just into the bloodstream. I hope that more neurologists will take note of Cochran's PD findings." Look up Glutathione on here and you get good info on that too.

What is the regiment exactly?

From what I read you can ask your Doctor about it and he can prescribe the regimen which is a cocktail of 75 nutrients available only by prescription which you take three times a day. They said it was not expensive compared to a lot of other things people are doing, and if it is a prescription it may be covered by insurance. I'm going to urge my husband to ask his doctor, who will probably say he never heard a thing about it but may be persuaded to look it up for us.
