Best on empty stomach one hour before or two hours after a meal
Amen to Reedboat's comment! I get an extra hour or two of "on" time when I take mucuna with an empty stomach.
Where do you get it from. can I buy on line as I'm in New Zealand? I want to make sure I get a good product.
I’m using Barlow’s 40% bulk powder. I would contact Barlow’s Elixers in Florida and see if they’ll ship to NZ. The bulk powder is half the cost per dose compared to capsules. As long as you’re shipping that far maybe buy a kilo or so. 😁
What percentage l-dopa are you going to take?
Well, Juliegrace, as you know, it's the not the percentage alone, but the dose of mucuna TIMES the percentage that is meaningful. For example, with 1953Bullard's example, one is getting 800 mg X 15% = 120 g of L-Dopa, close to the amount in a 25/100 Sinemet tablet.
Correct. But I’ve been reading up a lot on it and it seems 500 mg is a good daily dose. I took 250 mg yesterday at noon and I was on the whole rest of the day! So my plan is 100/25 sinemet cr along with 250 mg of MP at about 8 am and then another 250 mg of MP around one or two. Currently I’m on 200/50
Sinemet cr twice a day
Hi there...got my hubby on 1 teaspoon of Macuna in the morning...he not on any pharma meds....just the high dose thiamine. What would you say is a good dosage each day? I am really useless when it comes to the grams and milligrams , in simple terms how many tsps a day. Could you kindly assist...
I have no idea on the powder. I can figure out the amount with my pills. Depends on how many mg are in a teaspoon I guess
What is the percentage of l-dopa per measurement? The package should give some indication. Or, what is the brand? Someone here is probably familiar with it. Do you have a link to it?
Sorry, but I cannot say. Even if I had complete info about your powder--its density and %-age of L-Dopa--I couldn't say because your husband is an unknown variable in the mix. I could only tell you how much L-Dopa I get per dose of mucuna adequate to allay MY symptoms. (But you won't want to hear this because I can only express it in milligrams.)
My wife has been taking 100% mucuna power in place of 25/100 sinemet for over
2 years. 1/4 teaspoon in the morning, gets about 4 hrs on time, then 1/8 teaspoon every
3 hrs. She usually takes one sinemet for her last dose before bed. If she doesn't eat
a little bit ( even some gluten free crackers) just before taking the mucuna she will
get nauseous and vomit. She doesn't want to eat just before bed so she takes the
one sinement which doesn't make her sick because it contains carbidopa. I believe
based on my research that the carbidopa is bad news for the body and causes
symptoms that neurologists confuse as progressive PD symptoms. Do your own research!
Please search this site for all posts relating to Mucuna Pruriens. There is a lot of good information that will help you make a decision. Short answer: I've discovered taking Mucuna with food on my stomach either renders Mucuna ineffective, less effective, or it comes up with whatever else is on my stomach! Eckk!
