Musical Memory and Auditory Hallucinations may be linked to some Extended Release Anti-Agonists? Or PD?

Experiencing Musical Memory and Auditory Hallucinations? An echo of ringtones or a song that replays over and over in your head? Apparently some people hear symphonies or songs or just pieces of songs over and over and over, especially when there are fans or air conditioners or engines nearby. Just read two items about it. One is in Brain Volume 138, Issue 12, December 2015. The other is a study. Will try to find link. Just wondering how common this is? I keep hearing the first line of a song. Just saw a post in Lupus about this too.

What is the first line of the song you keep hearing? Someone may be able to complete it for you.

This is a song that starts with a carnival sound in the back ground and has a line like “colors everywhere”. I don’t think that would be enough to trace it. But that is a nice thought. There is a voice in the background of the carnival saying something ilke “first winner First prize”. It is a jumble in my mind. I hear the tune over and over. Thank you.

That song sounds like "She's a Rainbow by the Rolling Stones. The verse is

She comes in colors everywhere

She combs her hair

She's like a rainbow

Coming colors in the air

Oh, everywhere

She comes in colors

She comes in colors everywhere

etc. The original version is recorded live with an unusual Kaleidescope sounding background. I believe it is available on U tube, Good Luck

You're Welcome

My brother in law has this and he is hard of hearing. He calls it musical ear syndrome. I think one theory is that it may be part of the bodies way of dealing with not being able to hear for people with hearing loss, but very little is understood about this condition. In his case, it is not always music that he hears. He says sometimes it sounds like there is a tv on in the next room and it is tuned to a news broadcast that sounds like it is from the 1950's.

I can see why some people would not mention this to anyone including their doctors as I'm sure it will draw some strange looks from people who have never heard of it!

I have this, at least the part where it sounds like a tv is on in the next room, when there isn't.

My inner DJ commonly plays songs apropos to the moment but does not rise to the level of hallucination.

You're Welcome,, Any time. No, actually I'm crushed, disappointed, disillusioned (etc. etc.). For an 85 year old ex farmer, ex cowboy, country boy who took no part in "Beatlemania" to have nailed down a Rolling Stone tune from two words of the lyric...... certainly surprised me. Standing ovulation anyone?
