Re this medication: After 15 days of the minimum dose, I suffered disabling impairment of my postural blood pressure regulation system. Even though I stopped taking it immediately, for the ensuing month I was unable to stand most of the time without fainting due to loss of blood pressure upon standing. Yet while reclining my blood pressure read over 200 systolic initially.

Here is a study showing every single one of the patients receiving a tiny dose immediately suffered loss of blood pressure: europepmc.org/abstract/med/...

Why are you asking a question that you already know the answer to?

I didn’t. I couldn’t tell by your post if you took pill or not.

The IV version is only 3 mg, a tiny fraction of the 50 mg minimum daily dose. The IV version is for compatibility testing only.

Thank you

Who is the dr that prescribed it? And what year was it prescribed?

Thanks

This medication resulted in devastating adverse effects which are set forth above. If in spite of this you still want to try it is your business, however, I am not about to assist anyone in such a quest in any way.

I understand -

These agonists work on different dopamine receptors and have different side effects and contraindications-

And of course dose makes a tremendous difference.

Plus we are all so different- with different secondary or primary diseases and syndromes, and are on different drugs/supplements to treat these things.

Personally I look to take drugs if there’s a few choices, for ones with side effects that I need help with-like try to use drugs which cause diarrhea not constipation etc

I also read,I believe, though I may be getting it mixed up w/ cabergoline, that compared to other dopamine agonist piribedal had less of the causing one to blackout/fall asleep or perhaps it was water retention in legs-I forget ;).

I found where I read about piribedals reason to cause less drowsiness than other dopamine agonist-again it was on Wikipedia under piribedal -

It said it was because it is also a selective adrenergic receptor antagonists-subtype a2A and a2C

I’d love to try this

I found it while researching apathy for PD as I have that symptom really bad.

Who is the dr that prescribed it??

I am very interested in him possibly suggesting this to my drs.

The drug is also used for 3 other conditions I have! Circulation/vascular stuff in legs, tinnitus and retina stuff.

Please help

Just out of curiosity I went looking for these other indications you mentioned. The only one I found any information on was tinnitus:

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/195...

"RESULTS:

There was no significant improvement of Tinnitus Handicap Inventory and visual analog scale score after piribedil treatment as compared with placebo. ...[Although there were some responders] The incidence of side effects during piribedil treatment was 23.3%, leading to interruption of treatment in all cases.

CONCLUSION:

Piribedil is not superior to placebo in the treatment of tinnitus."

Emphasis added. In my opinion you should not expose yourself to this substance.
