Be very careful never leave the person alone when the tube is draining into the stomach. An overflow will go into the lungs and cause aspiration.

So, there are feeding tubes that go down the throat or nose into the stomach and then feeding tubes that go directly into the stomach. My husband had a peg tube placed in his stomach after losing 50-60 pounds over 6 months, due to not being able to swallow well enough to get enough nutrition orally. There were a lot of trial and error times, but it did allow him to live a little longer. He died after developing pneumonia this last November - long story, but not really due to the feeding tube. Aspiration is a problem with anyone who can't swallow well, not just unique to tube feedings or to Parkinson's.
