I have had PD for 9 yes and two yes ago I had a mini stroke. Since then my memory has been slowly getting worse. I know as one gets older this can happen but I can't remember what I intended t say if interrupted. Anyone out there had any experience with this?

I do that too. It makes the usual to and fro of conversation rather difficult. I don't always forget what I was going to say but I do forget often enough to get pretty irritated with it. I've even thought of having a pen and paper when I talk to people and making notes but that's kind of crazy. The other thing I've noticed is I have a hard time keeping straight what day of the week it is and probably what month it is also if that came up more often. I check my phone now to make sure I'm right on the day of the week.

Are you on azilect by any chance? When I was on it for two and a half months I thought I was losing my mind, I couldn't remember anything.

That's interesting. Azilect is all I take as of now bc my Dr said it may have neuroprotected abilities. I've wondered if and how it effects me. Until now, I've heard nothing but good things about it. I do feel like I get anxious and sometimes am at a loss for words but I attribute this to the PD.

No only on sinemet three and half/day

I am 11 years into my dx, and 5 1/2 post DBS. Things have been fairly normal (whatever that is) until last spring. My 1st battery change and another Medtronics tune up. It seams like since then I've been on a slow spiral downward. I have been tolerating 3 100/25 Sinemet every 4 hours since DBS with no apparent dystonia. Dyskinesia is present/bothersome at some periods of the day more than others.

The spiral I am referring to is memory. Peoples names have never been a problem for me before, or time frames of events. Now that I think of it, day and date have also been troubling. I have never been near Azilect though.

Thanks Pelley its very difficult to know what is causing memory loss. I just hope its not too sinister

You are describing mild cognitive impairment which just about everyone with pd develops over time. It doesnot mean you are on the path to Alzheimers. Lots of info on utube and on line..

I invariably loose my train of thought mid sentence, cant remember why I came upstairs until i go back down, and as to names......

I have a terrible problem with short term memory. This includes conversation, concentration, and just general loss of thought. My Doctor an I thought some Speech Therapy might help. I have gone to about 5 session now. My therapist is teaching me how to work on concentration and memory. I do think it's helping. It doesn't hurt to try!

I find it very difficult to sort out what is Parkinson’s and what is normal aging. When I get together with friends (we are all in our late 50’s) our conversations go like this: “ What was the name of that guy who was in that movie ? You know the one with the brown eyes?” It can take us ten minutes to get enough specifics to google it. We all seem to be equally forgetful and for now that’s comforting to me.

At one of my support group meetings those of us with PD were sitting around the table talking about all of our memory problems, especially for some reason, losing our cars in the parking lot, and a caregiver was there listening to us who did not have PD. He at one point chimed in that he had the same problems and so did friends of his that did not have PD but were simply aging. I've heard the same thing from my sister and friends. Makes me feel better.
