Has anyone been treated with botox to reduce rigidity?
Botox: Has anyone been treated with botox... - Cure Parkinson's
Botox
Never heard of it for that. Have known it used for dystonia.
I had Botox for dystonia in my hand. At that time the neurologist I was seeing did not think I had Parkinson’s disease. The Botox was not supposed to kick in for about a week, within 24 hours my pinkie and middle finger went down towards my palm and were stuck there, other two fingers were straight and couldn’t bend them, I could move my thumb. I returned to neurologist on Monday and he said he had not seen in anyone but an elderly person with a stroke that kind of reaction and would I like to see his power point slides for the talks he gives on Botox and dystonia. I felt like saying “no I’m living the dream” but I did keep my composure I was in my 50’s with no stroke. I had to have splint’s and brace made to hold those fingers up, physical therapy for six months. Still years later the tendon on middle finger slides over the knuckle when I bend the finger, the hand surgeon thought I would need surgery to fix that. After that I went to another neurologist that said he would never recommend Botox in parkinsons patients with dystonia.
