Looking forward to participating and learning. I was diagnosed nine years ago and I'm under the care of a fine physician at Emory University.

Welcome to the group hobartpitman. Please tell us about yourself. I was only diagnosed last summer but have had symptoms many years. I'm treated at UAMS in Little Rock Arkansas and I too am very pleased with my current neurologist. I find this web site has been fantastic. Pretty much any question you can ask about PD someone (usually many) on the site will have a reply for.

Welcome. Would you mind sharing the name of your neurologist at Emory? Is he open to using integrated medicine? Is he a Movement Disorder Specialist?

I can't find a doctor that I am pleased with, since the one I was seeing has retired. Atlanta is just a couple hours from my home.

Thanks.

Maryalice

My neurologist is Alan Freeman M.D.. He is a Parkinson's/ movement disorder specialist. I have been seeing him for several years and he is well regarded in the Parkinson's community. He has been practicing and teaching at Emory since 1984.

I do not know if he is open to integrated/ alternative medicine as I have never broached the subject with him. On that subject matter, many years a D.O. explained to me that most alternative medicines are unproven and unregulated in their strengths, dosages, etc. Given that fact, the effects of use of alternative meds in conjunction with prescribed meds is widely unknown. I would suspect that he would not be open to such therapy.
