Zonisamide...new drug for Parkinson's?
I did use Zonisamide for a while early on and it did seem to help with tremors. I didn't realize it did all these good things:
"effects on Parkinson's disease include activation of dopamine synthesis, inhibition of monoamine oxidase,... and markedly increases glutathione S-transferase levels in the striatum by enhancing the astroglial cysteine transport system "
Glutathione is what we are trying to enhance by taking NAC.

Neuroprotective effects of zonisamide target astrocyte.
These results provide new pharmacological evidence for the effects of ZNS. ZNS markedly increased GSH levels by enhancing the astroglial cystine transport system and/or astroglial proliferation via S100beta production or secretion. ZNS acts as a neuroprotectant against oxidative stress and progressive dopaminergic neurodegeneration.
My doctor prescribed zonisamide for me, so we will see. I will let everyone here know my results. I'm excited about this drugs potential benefits.
Any updates from the users of zonisamide ?
