Can going vegan help us?
It is entirely possible that positive results can be gained by a vegetarian diet. I am not suggesting otherwise. We should investigate further to determine if other reports support it.
However this article is what I would call bad science and it is a bit surprising that this article appeared in a Magazine called "Health and Science". His "slow developing PD" could be the result of many things and had he coincidentally started anything a year ago he could credit that as the reason. What in particular indicates that there was a previous negative effect of eating meat. It would appear that the writer started with a vegan bias. Many Parkies report a reduction in symptoms and a leveling out of the severity or slowing of the progression. Attaining the position of slowest development that Doctor had ever seen is not necessarily all that note worthy an achievement and might also indicate that PD is a misdiagnoses or the Doctor has not seen many Parkies.
Sorry to find such negative things about your post. I enjoy your posts and your comments. I Just can not let bad science pass with out comment, there are so many such reports.
I appreciate your perspective and cannot argue one iota.
many in India are vegetarian since birth, but symptoms of PD are prominent. Many are suffering from Vit 12 deficiency
I loose too much weight on a vegan or any kind of vegetarian diet. i lost 75 # and have never gained it back, so any type of this diet would make me a skeleton.
muragod, you mean B12 right?
Thank you Beckey
