I want tko find out about the benefits of coconut oil on Parkinson's I just started to take it aand not sure of the dosage??? tks djr2003ont
When I have the time, or really, when I remember it, I make myself bulletproof coffee with coconut oil and grass-fed butter. Sometimes I just eat it off a spoon. To start, you should take about one tablespoon a day, and work up to two. If you take too much too soon, you can get stomach cramps. I haven't been doing it long enough to see the benefits, but I also give it to my American Husky dog, Byron, for arthritis, and I think it has been helping him.
Hello!
I buy coconut oil capsules from Puritain's Pride and take 4/ 2 times per day!
I have been doing this for months now but have not noticed any improvement!
I used to take sugar in my tea but now I add a Tbs of coconut oil to my tea instead. I think it is delicious. I add it to other foods and beverages too.
This is the best explanation of coconut oil dosage I've seen yet. It's the website of Dr. Mary Newport, MD, who successfully used coconut oil to alleviate her husband's Alzheimers symptoms. She also promotes coconut oil for Parkinson's. Her materials and articles are very clear, as well as scientific. Click on Diet Guidelines and FAQ for very specific dosage info. Also, other articles on website are helpful.
Gleeson wrote this information on another thread. I hope he doesnt mind it being shared here. He wrote:
I recently learned that Steve Newport, Dr. Newport's AD-afflicted husband, has had a bad year culminating in a stroke this summer that has left him incapacitated. No scientific studies support the claims for coconut oil as a treatment for AD and PD but unfortunately plenty of studies establish a link between high saturated fats and strokes and heart ailments.Coconut oil is higher in saturated fat content than lard and each tablespoon has nearly 200 calories. I know some among them Dr. Newport and her supporters Pat Robertson and TV doctors Oz and Mercola, argue that coconut oil has unique features that make it a safe and healthful fat but the American Heart Assn., Mayo Clinic, and many others disagree.
To play it safe, when we began giving my dad coconut oil for Parkinson's, we had his blood tested for cholesterol 6 weeks after initiation. (We started slowly, with a teaspoon each day until we were giving him 3 tablespoons/day by the middle to the end of the 6 weeks.) At the end of the six weeks, his cholesterol levels were normal. This is incidental to my dad, and only a six week study. But it did make us happy. Always best to work with your doctors.
Thank you all for your info on Cocont oil I will hve my colestorol checked in six weeks, still unsure of dosage djr2003ont@yahoo.ca
