What's with this 'leaning thing,' that has plagued me in two areas of my life. First there was my leaning to the left on my computer chair.

A few times i leaned so far that my forehead had a rugburn on it. And then there was yesterday; I had a cardiologist appointment, I started leaning to the right. So much so that my eyes were parallel to the car radio. I made it home. As I pulled into my development there were 3 police cars waiting for me. It seems that some other drivers had a problem with me not being able to see the road ahead. This leaning thing is weird.

My PD began with me falling over (to the left) while gardening. Not able to stand up from a prone position, I would do a "military crawl" to some place where there was something substantial to pull myself onto my knees and then fight like crazy to pull myself up. My left side is the only area affected with PD. But I had to give up driving two years ago because my reaction time was too slow to avoid the crazy drivers on the road and was hit by an oncoming car passing over a double yellow line, Thankfully, no serious injuries, but I learned from the police department that a driver's license will not be issued, or will be pulled if a person is driving while on Parkinson's meds in the State of WA. . . that is Stalevo, carba/dopa in any combination, Sinemet, etc. Please be be careful while behind the wheel.

hi jenny, i quit driving a few years ago. i didn't want to kill anybody. thought it best for all concerned. i had lost my depth perception. and backing out of the driveway i almost t-boned a van coming down the road. something told me to stop, i did, and looked in my rear-view mirror, ad the driver looked like she was either screaming or laughing. i think considering the situation, she was screaming. so i went back in the driveway, and that was the last time i drove a car. so happy to have a good guardian angel.

I have never heard of not being able to drive while on stalevo. I could not drive without it. It makes my balance that perception and everything so much better. Interesting.

MyownPOV,

I have the same problem. It's driving me crazy! I googled it and a web site recommended a lateral trunk support cushion. I ordered the least expensive one and it didn't work very well.

I may order another one, but it cost about $500.00. Please let me know if you find anything that works. Thanks.

YES, FIRST THING I DID WAS TURN MY COMPUTER CHAIR SO THAT THE BACK WAS TO MY LEFT SO I BASICALLY COULD NOT LEAN TO MY LEFT. FOR MY CAR, I HAVE A BOLSTER TO PUT BETWEEN SEATS WHICH SHOULD ELIMINATE MY LEANING TO MY RIGHT. I HAVEN'T TRIED IT YET. I WILL LATER TODAY.

I believe what you're experiencing is called postural instability. I have a problem with this if I do not take my Stalevo.

Hubby would lean to the right. His arm and shoulder would practically hit the floor when he was watching TV. He stopped driving for several reasons- loss of depth perception, poor reaction time and some days he couldn't tell which pedal his foot was on. He never took Stalevo.

I had to give up driving about a year ago. I could drive OK, but I would forget how to get places. Now every time I n get driven someplace,it's as if I had never been then ,or it looks very new. I recognize some things, but generally, I just have a god time as if I were seeing it for the first time. As far as leaning, I have to watch myself sitting is a straight chair with a cushion in it. I'liable to just fall of the chair.

The leaning is called the Piza syndrome, it is fairly common from what I have read, you can see it on YouTube as well.
