I'm usually a lurker here, but hope there are some answers in our community to the question in my title. I'm 63 years old, diagnosed about 3 years ago, though the symptoms have been there for decades. I live in CO and see a doctor at Barrow Institute in Phoenix, as I have no faith in the local clown where we live. Our insurance agent just called to let us know Rocky Mountain Health has been purchased by United Health and will no longer cover visits to an out of state doctor. I have just under two years until Medicare kicks in. I really don't want to see the local guy. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

The goal for for-profit medical insurance is to take your premiums and find reasons to not pay them out. Are you not able to afford the cost of office visits paying out-of-pocket?

During the course of my life I have often had reason to see doctors insurers would not pay for. All things considered the cost of doctor's office visits has been affordable for me.

I can afford it, but every once in awhile it'd be nice to get more back from my monthly payments. Your first sentence is on the money.

As more consultations in these times go on-line, rather than face to face, location shouldn’t matter one bit?

I’m in CO, dr is in AZ. We have gone to remote so doesn’t matter where I am physically, dr is out of my network no matter what. Not a big deal as I have the money, just thought maybe somebody would have a clever answer.

Assuming you only see the doctor once or twice a year, I suggest paying for it as long as you can afford it.

Well, it is a bit hard nosed but you only have a month to do all you can to make sure the crazies dont get hold of or retain hold of your state, not to mention the presidency.

"My one measly vote doesn't count" was never a good argument but the contrary argument was not 'So i wont bother to vote'. it was ALWAYS 'So I must do everything in my power to make sure the right people get into power'

Especially after we all saw some thug who Putin installed going to a public ceremony WHEN HE KNEW HE HAD THE VIRUS, and nominating someone he knows will try to gut the federal statute which provides you with affordable health insurance!

Me? No, it’s not that bad yet. Just selling my company this month if all goes well.

Disability, that should have been.

I see Dr. Mischley twice a year via Skype and I pay out of pocket. It is not too much and well worth it. I say fork up the cash (see if they offer a pay out of pocket discount) if it is worth it and only a few times a year. My 2 cents.
