Does anyone else out there panic when it is icy on the ground or there is the slightest bit of snow ? My legs seem to lock up and I feel like I need to hold on to somebody.

Jill, I definitely don't like the cold anymore! I feel the cold much more than before diagnosis. No panic attacks, but my muscles do stiffen and my mind seems to move more slowly as well. I feel the chill internally and it takes several hours for that to subside. My neurologist affirmed that those of us with movement disorders most certainly will be more affected by cold than others.

Yes indeed last year winter weather was fierce here in NYC and I was stuck at home. Not only does med wear off soon but very difficult to navigate with or without walker. Not much ice this year :) knock wood!

Feel very blesssed to live in Florida. Cold makes me shiver and I feel I shake enough without extra help. :)

This is a real fear of mine. Last winter I fell down on an icy sidewalk and broke three ribs. Ouch!

Ouch Tim!

I recently fell down and broke two ribs on the arm of a chair - inside the house.

No fun!

Bambi, right now I live in far southeastern Arizona so our winters are quite mild inspite of being just over 1 mile high in elevation. During most winters we end up with 3 or 4 snow falls and it usually is not much more than a couple of inches. But it is slippery when we do have it and yes i do worry about falling. I would hate to move back to a place where winters are serious business and people have to worry about this daily. (I grew up in Milwaukee, WI and lived for 14 years in Denver, CO)

Spoiled in Bisbee,

Steve

Hi Steve I live in Wales in the UK, it's a beautiful place and above sea level but it's a real B**ch of a place to be when it snows or gets icy!!!. At the moment not had any snow here unlike some parts of the UK but I am constantly watching the weather forecast and keeping my fingers crossed

Oh well I suppose if it gets really bad I just cant make into work and will have to look out my window at the beautiful scenery.
