Whilst I would love to say I've had a John & Yoko style 'love in', it couldn't be further removed I have effectively, and I make no apologies for this, I have had a four day 'snot in'. I am of course very rudely referring to the status of the mucus which has imprisoned my head, nose, ears and at times my whole head, in some kind of glue animation. Teasingly enough to flex so that you know it can budge but with the resistance of a loyal warrior it fends off the steam, eucalyptus, hot towels and other internet Doctor advice that I trawled at silly a.m. i've simply had flu. But its been bad flu. The worst I can remember. ever. It reduced me to sobbing, something PD never does. Sobbing from the sheer pain, the discomfort, the relentlessness, the disgust. Spinning in and out of temperature, pain shooting up my sinuses, a head with the weight of a winning giant turnip competition and teeth that ached so much I could have pulled them out.
PD despite its ever creeping blackness, the slow failure of things I value and the anticipation of decline I deal with. I deal with very well. So am I pathetic, I don't think so. I don't know the 'benchmarks' if such things can be applied but I am told I am very tolerant with a good pain threshold. Not this week.
So I concluded that I can only fight one thing at once and I am better at the big strategy driven wars than bloody side battles.
I am still in bed, I have the wobbles, tomorrow I will venture downstairs for the first time in a week. I can't think about going in the car yet, maybe I will on Sunday. I'm quite excited about that. Has anyone missed me? Nah! I kinda like that too x xx
I HAVE AVOIDED FLU BUT HAVE HAD A HORRIBEL DRY COUGH FOR WEEKS AND IT SEEMS OT BE A WEAKNESS IN MY LEFT LUNG AFTER THE RADIOTHERAPPY FOR THE BREAST CANCER WHICH I IHAVE BEATEN
SO U R NOT ALONE EXCEPT THAT JMY SINGNIGN SI AFFECTED AS I CANNOT BREATHE.
Jill I drum everyday even when I can't. I have laid here and 'air drummed' or drummed in my head. I hope to drum for real tomorrow but just gently. Look in your local paper for unwanted second hand electronic kits shd be £150 for something decent and I will teach you via Skype xxx
Hi Coleen - I too look forward to your posts and so, with some degree of trepidation may I suggest the following
A flue jab annually - I doubt that you are old enough to qualify - but when I was in that position, I managed to blag my way to one. It would be worth paying for if all else fails
I use Amantadine in my cocktail and since taking it - some 6 years ago - I might occasionally have the sniffles but never a real cold or flu
Keep the faith and hold on. Sorry you are having such a rough time but better days ahead is my wish for you and clearing of the "Bubble Head"'.,it seems everything looms larger when
You. Have PD also but rest in the fact they are making great strides in medicine for all, stages of Pd. wishing you better health.
Colleen, what I fail to understand is this: even throughout your 'snot in' (which you should copy write) you get more done than most who are 'snot in-less' (I should copy write). Mathematically you shouldn't exist. i.e. To fight the snot-fest (copy write) should consume approx. 86% of your energy, to cope with the insidious PD a further 28% minimum and to write so eloquently in your blog at least another 12%. These values are subjective and have a plus or minus tolerance of 0.01%. Not to mention the on going project work. This all adds up to something..... super human. Get well soon and look after yourself first!
