Has anyone tried the Balance Bracelet? I spoke with an old friend who is a PT, someone she works with had tried it and felt that it made a difference. He did not have PD but I wondered if it might help with balance issues,.

I've seen them advertised on TV. Don't know of anyone that actually tried it. I'd be interested to know someone that has.

I tried one and couldn't tell any difference. They sell them at Walmart in the

"as seen on TV section". It didn't help me ,but it's worth a try.

Please forgive me, but that item has been around a long time. i remember seeing it on Spanish language TV as "la pulsera balance" over 20 years ago. When I see someone wearing it, all I can can think of is "sucker!" I guess I will have to be kinder and think "this person may be desperately seeking help for an incurable disease".

I'm as desperate as anybody, I invest in many kinds of alternative healing, but we all have to draw the line somewhere. Buy a few bars of dark chocolate instead. It may help, it may not, but oh, the pleasure!

Just finished eating my dark chocolate. I'm sure it is helpful. :)

Hi - Almost 2 years ago, the manufacturer was required to retract its statement that the bracelet worked to improve balance and were forced to state they were misleading in their claims of effectiveness. The company has been the focus of criticism and false advertising.

This may not be the same company as you're interested in or finding out about, but be cautious - many such items are out there not to help people with disabilities, but to make money off of them. The same with some people. There are two individuals I know of personally who are making money off of the PD community via marketing schemes and posing as up and coming PD charities. Just be cautious.

Wow, thanks for the information! Do you know the name of the company that was doing the false advertising, just so we all stay away from them?

I know that everyone reacts differently to meds, etc. I do use a magnetic bracelet made with copper on my left wrist for carpal tunnel syndrome, it does seem to help. I don't think it is a placebo effect because the cts is pretty bad. I am not pain free with it, but my hand does not go numb.

I recently asked a question on problems with feet. There is some information on magnetic bracelets on this. I don't know if this is the type of bracelet you are referring to. I will try some when I find out which ones are referred to.

On second thoughts maybe the chocolate is a better idea!

Too bad that I don't like dark chocolate! Wonder if milk chocolate would work!

I was given one. I didn't notice any difference. It was kind of the person who gave it to me and I remember her (she later died) fondly. I'm trying all sorts of things my rational mind rejects. my mind rejects most things. So faith is required. Have a good day, lovely people!

Just answer one question! What does magnetism have to do with Balance? Answer: Nothing. That is why bracelets do nothing.

I believe we are all different people and different things work for us. Faith and hope have a lot to do with it.. The world is not just logical...there is a lot that scientists cannot understand or account for.

Sometimes it is the power of the brain making it work. We think it will help so we stand staighter and therefore, keep our balance.

Hey Jillian,

I think we got derailed along the way! Sounds like most everyone favors chocolate over a balance bracelet.
