A milestone

Another milestone for me on today. I visited my neurologist & one more kind of medicine was added to my treatment regime. I felt closer to all of you out there but a step farther away from my usual self.

I agree with Shasha - enjoy the life that the meds enable

Hi, you sound like my husband, he was diagnosed in February, after been unwell for approx 18 months. The neuro put him on sinemet plus from first appointment, he was approx 20% improved, next visit he was switched to stavelo, this has helped a little more, although his tremor is very bad, so when he goes to his next appointment in July, we are hoping there is something else to help him more, just have to be grateful for any help I suppose, but I am not the sufferer, and its heart breaking to not be able to help your love one. Just hope he will be able to go abroad more so he can live his life to the full, he deserves to, with love xxx

I take many meds. I was diagnosed in 2004. Had DBS in 2006! But only on one side! So I still need all the meds because of the other side! I am also diabetic. All of a sudden, about 6 weeks ago my blood sugars went sky high! For no reason. So I'm working with my primary doc to get it down. Doctor put me on a almost no carb diet! I felt just awful! Then my Neuro said no to the diet because of all the protein! I should have known better. So now through research and recipes from the Internet. I have started my own low glycemic index diet! I lost 10 lbs. the first week. My blood sugars are going down but not where they should be. I believe SOME of these meds are poisining our bodies! I'm considering seeing an Endocronologist and a holistic assistant! I want to know if I have any metals, etc...in my body that are poisining me! And the Endo to get this blood sugar under control! Along with my Neuro! I do believe that some of these meds can be toxic! And I am just on too many and it keeps increasing! I'm worse not better. This is just my opinion! But I'm going to be my own advocate !!

Blessings,

Carol <><

Report any new side effects to neuro right away. I got very sick from requip and mirapex. Stalevo wore off instantly. Before you put your faith totally in meds, seek physical therapy and suitable exercise. My neuro started an exercise program with support for caregivers and it is amazing. He said in countries where PT is started before meds, the rate of progression is lower than in U.S.
