I really found Orencia to give me the best results. I've had RA for 18years and have tried most medicines for it. I'm sticking with Orencia intravenous once a month

I have been on Orencia for two years now with great results. I self inject every week. I also take 10mg of Methotrexate and 2mg of methylprednisolone. I have had RA for 20 years and have been on lots of different medications from the basic DMARDS to Humira, Embrel, Remicade, Simponi and Xeljanz. Humira worked great for about 4 years and the rest were minimally helpful with Xeljanz being the least effective. Feel free to follow up with any additional questions. Happy to answer. Have a good day. Nan

I plan on starting the weekly injections of Orencia after checking with insurance. Dx with RA 25 yrs ago & can't take nsaids due to sulfa allergy. Had reactions to Enbrel & Humera. Tried Orencia IV previously but quit too soon & willing to try self injection now. Trying to not be scared of biologics anymore. With xeljans I gained 12# & had terrible neuropathy pain. Also have erosiver osteoarthritis & osteoporosis with history of falling. Have fear of side effects of bio's - it's confusing but need something! Also on prednisone, plaquenil, & minocycline. Thx for your info.

I too am sulfa allergic but never heard of not taking nsaids because of it. Will google it. Thanks for posting.

Hi

Orencia ( abatacept in UK) is working well for me too. Been on it 2 years +, diagnosed 3.5 years ago. I self inject weekly. It took a good few months to get going but has worked well since. No side effects that I am aware of.

Good luck

Here's another positive reply for Orencia. I've been on it 9 months. It took 5 months to really kick in but has made a big difference. I chose to stay on infusions but will likely go to injections soon. I also take 12.5 mg of subcutaneous MTX. No side effects.

Best of luck

I have been on Orencia for 9 months. It took about 3-4 months to see an improvement so I was also on Prednisone (stopped in march).

. By February i could say it was improving my RA. I barely have pain anymore. But been havng bad bursitis in left hip, had cortisone shot and doing PT. I also take Plaquenil. Hope to lessen that at next visit in June. I also dont eat wheat corn dairy egg and pork - allergic to all but not wheat. Lost 20 pounds in a year.

Wishing you success!!!
