Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
and includes advice on pacing, minimising impact, stretching after every run and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.
Knee pain is very common for new runners.
Enjoy your journey.
Thank you for your advice, this is very useful. I realise I became negative yesterday, but hadn’t incorporated stretching into the run..I guess this was because I thought the 5mins walk either end was sufficient?
I’m feeling more positive already and looking forward to continuing after my rest days. Thank you again.

See the reply above from our running Yoda...🤣
Yeah I too suffered with knee pain, still do occasionally, especially on my longer runs. Make sure you have proper footwear and look at some knee strengthening exercises once a week.
