Great you've now completed wk1r2. Well done you 🤗🤗

I use Spotify the free version and just make a playlist

Do you have problems with data on the free version because you can't download?

I'm not am to sure what you mean. I just search for songs and add them to a my run playlist 🤗

I just checked something it says Spotify uses 4g data when not connected to Wi-Fi. But I've used it on all my runs and hardly any data has been used . Not sure how it works

I use the free version at home. I was just wondering how much data it uses and whether it's worth paying for, I'm not very techy. It would cut out all the ads too, I guess.

I don't like the adverts either but I refuse to pay 9.99 per month.

I only have 4gb of data per month as I don't do any social media at all.

My plan renewed on the 16th of November so I've used it on 5 runs so three hours of Spotify and my data is at 3.8 so it's only used 0.2 . So that's fine

Interesting. I haven't used it for running, but maybe I will.

I listened to Laura, who was the program voice-over lady when I did C25k. I hung onto her every word 🙂

I love listening to up tempo music, heavy metal like Rammstein or lindemann and pop/trap/glitch hop stuff.

I’d really suggest heavy metal if you wanna get some grrrs out on the run x

Oh, and for voice over I just listen to the couch to 5k voiceover x

We are all different with this I'm sure. When I started C25K I wanted only to listen to Laura telling me when to start (and more importantly stop) running. I'm very old school and don't(or didn't) agree with running whilst listening to music for safety reasons. (Admittedly I only run on pavements, and go out early mornings, but I have my principles!) What I did do initially was to count my paces, so that I knew how much further I had to go. This was fine for 60 & 90 minutes, but for longer times this would have been both boring and a daunting prospect (for me, at least 75% of the C25K challenge is mental, not physical). Further on in the programme I tried listening to the podcast but didn't like their choice of music so listened to a CD I'd copied to my 'phone as a distraction, and this seemed to work OK, plus I found that I could set the volume so I could hear the music, but also be aware of what was going on around me. The next bit of music I listened too was clearly too fast a tempo, which encouraged me to run too fast and struggle to run the whole time! Next I tried listening to Radio 2, but again found the music tempo disrupted my pace so ended up switching the radio off and listened to a combination of Laura & my heavy breathing! By the time I'd managed to complete W4 R1 (after a couple of 'practices') all I was listening to was Laura and a metronome app I'd downloaded onto my phone to help me with my pacing. At the moment this is working fine for me (but the runs aren't that long yet) and I'm surprising myself by thinking about other things, and then when I'm told I have a minute to go, I (over) estimate how far that'll take me before I can slow to a walk. Maybe once my running time increases (I'm currently re-doing week 3 after a short break) I may need a distraction (there's no scenery for me to look at in the dark when I go out!) so I will have to re-address this, but I thought music would help me as a distraction, but at the time I found it to be more of a hindrance.

I found listening to music frustrating as I couldn’t seem to find a mix to suit. Switched to podcasts and find them much more entertaining and distracting (in a good way!). There are loads of different genres and sure you can find something to suit. Personally, I’m enjoying Chris Moyles or Freddie Flintoff stuff 😁😁
