What did you look for? Ok I admit I did too. The program works so if you take it slowly you will make it, and you'll feel amazing when you do. Just relax and go do it. Good luck 👍🏃🏼‍♀️😀

I know I’ll do it cos I really want to complete it but it sounds scary running for 20 mins by end of next week!!!!

Good on you! This time next year... you'll probably be able to run for an hour without thinking about it!

Thanks. I’ll just have to bit the bullet it’s my own fault for looking too far ahead !!

You’ll be fine. More than half the battle is in your head, so kick out the negative gremlins - they don’t help. The C25k Plan has thousands of graduates. Most unlikely we are all Superman or Wonder Woman in disguise & trying to mislead you, so it is achievable by normal mortals. 😳 Just relax and keep doing it as you have been. You’ll be ready. Psst: the walking intervals haven’t just been a rest cure; they’ve strengthened you too! 👍😊

BaddieThePirate profile image
BaddieThePirateGraduate in reply to Granspeed

Are you accusing us of being normal? Huh ☠️

Granspeed profile image
GranspeedGraduate in reply to BaddieThePirate

Well, I suppose Some of us are on the edge of Superwoman or Wonder Man.... 🤣

BaddieThePirate profile image
BaddieThePirateGraduate in reply to Granspeed

And some of us aren't, but still would never be described as 'normal' 😄

Perhaps runners, by definition, are a bit off the centre of the curve? 😊

I can personally guarantee it even works for previously completely inert mortals 😂

I looked ahead too and thought nah, not going to happen : ) yet here I am, a freshly minted graduate starting consolidation tomorrow .

Trust me, once you do w5r3 in spite of your doubts, you feel great !

Let us know how next week goes

Don’t panic. You need to look for the week five Myths FAQ blog. It will help put all the runs a week five into perspective and you’ll see that there is nothing to worry about one of the administrators will have sent you a link to this in your messages section read it now

Don’t panic, you can definitely do it! I looked ahead too and didn’t think I could do the 20 minutes run, but I did it this evening and I feel on top of the world! I can’t believe I can run for 20 whole minutes.

You’ve got this!

Why would you be scared of running for twenty minutes? Isn't that why you started?

Read this and relax healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

You can do this.

Scruff55 profile image
Scruff55Graduate in reply to IannodaTruffe

Yes I will I just think it sounds a long time when I have only been running for 5 minutes this week. But I’ll do it

Jonno34 profile image

It is in your head! Seriously, at 55 and never been one for fitness I found the psycological battle was the hardest, put on some good music or a funny podcast and take it slow. Try not to watch the time too much, at leadt till you get the halftime bell, to me it is the best time, when you know you have less to do than you have done. You CAN do it!

Scruff55 profile image
Scruff55Graduate in reply to Jonno34

Thanks I’ll take it slow and steady

Aoscup profile image
AoscupGraduate

I wAs exactly the same- I even thought it was a mistake with my app!! I got myself quite worked up about it and thought just do your best, it doesn’t matter if you don’t manage, just keep at it. BUT .......... I did it and it was the best feeling, so proud at the end as for someone one who hasn’t run since school ( and wasn’t good then) it was massive achievement. Good luck - think positive and I’m sure you’ll do it

Scruff55 I was exactly where you were last week. Week 5 filled me with dread and doubt and worry etc etc. But I did it just as you will. Just go at your own pace and keep it slow and steady. When I did the 20mins yesterday I was a bit nervous but so proud afterwards and felt quite comfortable....so enter into week 5 with a Mantra of “Ive achieved everything thus far and can go on achieving.” Good luck and look forward to hearing how it went.

Just done w5 r3, dont think about it. I know easier said than done. I've never run in my life, week 1 seems so far away now. It's very satisfying, good luck.

Albuscat profile image

Hope you are convinced now! I keep my mind on anything but the running and the time flies by.

Im at the same point as you in that I'm about to start week 5 - aching and sore from w4 w3 yesterday and the thought of a 20 minute continuous run next week is pretty scary but we can do it. I didn't think I could run for 5 minutes straight a few weeks ago and yet here I am, having done it a number of times. One (literal) step at a time :)

I'm sure quite a few, if not a majority, of us who are on or completed this, took a peak at what's coming next and thought "not sure I'll be able to do it". Trust the program, it does work. If you do struggle, and I had a few moments, just repeat days and/or try to slow it down. I know that's a common mantra but you'll find it can be done. For me it was finding the right pace. Since I graduated I've found that my pace has quickened.

Keep going. You've got this far. You can do it!

As everyone else has said, please don't panic (though I'll admit I had a but of a sleepless night during week 5). You will be just fine. I'm the most unlikely person ever to have succeeded at this programme and I did it. Your body is ready for this... don't let it be your mind that stops you. :)

Scram profile image
ScramGraduate

I was in the same boat but I did it and so can you. I found the thought of the long runs overwhelming and I had to do w5r3 a second time to complete it but I was so pleased when I did.

I ran w6r3 yesterday. I can't believe I ran for 25 minutes but I did.

Follow the programme but listen to your body. It's amazing what we are capable of, just look how far we have come already!

I know it's a big jump that one but trust this program it real does work I was dreading that run but all you have to do is hydrate enough before during and after and stretch before and after it helps and run either early morning or later on at night I'm running a 28min today and thought I would of never been able to do that but guess what I can so don't worry about it it's going to be ok just don't go running in the heat just what I found out the hard way give me rain to run in any day 😉

Well done for getting to week 5 👏👏I did R1W6 yesterday was still on a high from doing W5 R3 - would never of thought that back in W1 when I was struggling badly that I would get this far - as everybody has said - trust in the programme it really does work 😊. I’m looking forward to the rest of W6 slow and steady , will work on pace speed once I’ve reached 30mins running - can’t believe I just said that - thinking like a runner now 😍. BTW I like to look at the week ahead so I know by goals - #this 61yr old girl can 🙌🏻🤞😀

Just take your time. You may be surprised by yourself when you do it. I certainly was. Now I don't give a second thought to running 20 mins at a stretch. I never thought that would happen. As I say, just take your time and go steady. Very best of luck!

Read the FAQ blog which has a link to week five myths, it really helps you and you will be more excited for it than nervous👍

Good luck xx

Whatever the outcome, you can be proud, you tried your best. If you regularly visualize yourself achieving the next 5: take one at a time, you have then set your mindset up to do just that...long as it`s realistic goal, ( no matter what it is ) your mind will then take you there . Good luck !

You will be surprised just how many minutes you can run for. I did run 3 of week 5 today and thought just the same as you. I stopped at 19 minutes though as I was struggling to regulate my breathing. I was stunned that I had managed more than 10 minutes. I'm going to do runs 2 & 3again before I start week 6. Go for it. 👍
