Hi folks, love the forum, helps loads. Is ther... - Couch to 5K
Hi folks, love the forum, helps loads. Is there an intermediate group, ie 5kto10k? Just thought that would be a logical step on..
You will find that we are all levels on this forum, including some who have completed marathons!! There is lots out there to help you get to 10k, and use this forum to find out more as there are people doing similar. We have a facebook group too which is also really helpful... For a start I would do the Stepping stones, Speed etc...then try something like Audiofuel to give you a structure...enjoy your running!!
You can download the three C25K + podcasts from this site and the Sami Murphy Bridge to 10 k podcasts which take you to the next level. That one is five weeks. I've done it and come out the other side. Hard mind you, well for me it was but so glad I did it. Music's good too
I got there by listening to week 9 and adding 5 mins every 3 runs until my time increased to 1hr 10. Up to 13 k now and love it! It is quite easy to do this way as you still have the structure of Laura for the first 1/2 hour and then listen to your own music after - kind of a treat for getting the first bit out of the way. Hope it helps - good luck!
Thanks Carole. I started out with the ' run for pink' phone app. Which I have stuck with, as I got to week 5 before finding this forum. I don't think there is the verbal encouragement you would get with Laura, but on the plus side I make my own playlists of music- and I still have the structure to follow with the gradual build up of run times. Its great ticking off each run as I go through the weeks. This also helped me track where I had got to. Listen too me, I sound like ad for the app!!
I'm almost there, w8r2 later today, on RFP app that is One run Way from graduation. I still don't feel like a 'proper runner' I'm going to carry on with it and combine a run or two trying to increase my speed with a run trying to increase my time. I am aware though that if I don't have a fairly rigid structure to follow, I will lose my way. I've tried gym & cycling in the past, but I loose focus and it fizzles out within a few months, despite any progress made, I think this is mainly due to not following a plan and not mapping my progress.
Carole, just seen your profile, and what you've achieved since Jan. Well done you! I think I will take your advice and continue on with the extra time every week, the rest will follow on from that ie speed and stamina.
Cheers
Thank you Forestg. I believe it has been easier because I run along a 20 mile Canal. Whilst beautiful and distracting from the ks you do it is very flat so no hills to overcome. It worked for me and I continue to do this twice a week although I now also do the speed podcast at least once it is very short and really good. Good luck with the rest of the programme and let us know how your journey pans out and YOU ARE A PROPER RUNNER!!
AAH!!! So NOW I know how you are doing it!! NO HILLS!!!! That's cheating!!!!
