Well done on starting the programme and deciding to turn your life around with health and fitness. Giving up smoking isn't easy so well done for that as well. Running, on its own, won't get the weight off at this stage so it's best combined with a healthy eating plan. Also, you might like to consider a low impact exercise for your rest days. I can recommend Pilates for toning the body - works a treat. As you progress through the C25K you will notice many benefits in all sorts of ways. Good luck with the programme and very best wishes.

Hi Addictiveart,

First of all, congratulations on giving up smoking!

I started today too. Did my first run this morning. It wasn't too bad but my bones are aching now!

I struggle with keeping at things so I hope I manage to stick to this!

Hopefully the rain will continue to hold off while I'm getting into it.

Are you running outdoors or on a treadmill?

Well done on taking the leap and doing something that will benefit you in so many ways.

Each week you will notice you feel stronger, fitter amd healthier. Your energy levels will increase too.

Keep at it because running is now my drug of choice! !

Yeah me too Kicki! Having given up fags, booze and lost weight, and now running, I feel fitter than I have ever done in my life. I like the feeling. So will you Addictiveart!

Doing the C25k is the best thing you'll ever do I reckon. Have you made a start yet?

Well done on all counts! I lost 2 st last year but needed to do something more to get another stone off. When I started I thought that running for 3 mins would finish me off. I've just done run 3 of week 6 & was chuffed when Laura announced that I was officially a runner now! The progress that can be achieved is amazing so stick with it. Enjoy!

Well done on finding the motivation to sort yourself out. I feel like I have only just started, but in fact I have completed C25k, it went by so quickly. The key is just to keep going, follow the instructions, and you will be fighting fit in no time.

Giving up smoking is the hardest thing ever. Losing weight & c25k are a doddle by comparison.

Good luck & enjoy
