I bought a fitbit one, 3 weeks ago and love it. I did consider getting a flex but read a post from someone saying that theirs was starting to get a bit smelly and I'm not sure if you can wash it or not.

Thanks Tracey but after reading this forum think I might go down the Garmin route seems to be popular & well tested, finish wk9 next week so will make a decision then.

Hi

My husband bought me a fitbit flex as a present recently. You keep it all on the time so it tracks all your movement during the day and sleep patterns at night ie not just your runs. I've got mine set to vibrate when I achieve 10,000 steps in a day (actually I think that's the default setting.) Also it will track your weight, calorie intake/outake and probably more stuff that I've yet to discover. :)

As it's designed to be worn 24/7 you can take it in the shower and wash it (it's a bit like a large rubber band which you wear on your wrist). So I'm not sure why someone's is getting smelly. But you can replace the rubber band bit anyway as the device itself is about the size of a large kidney bean (about the length of a standard size paperclip) which you insert in the band.

I have to say that I'd been toying with the idea of a Garmin until my husband bought my flex for me quite out of the blue but for GPS tracking I use my iphone anyway. I use MapMyRun. I have a belt (cheap from Sports Direct) and I keep my iphone in there. Works a treat.

Hope that helps
