My run days are Monday, Wednesday and Friday, rain or shine, so I'll have Christmas Day and New Year's Day off, but I'll be running on Boxing Day. The only reason I'd cancel a run would be if it was impossible due to snow. Cold and/or wet is no problem, as someone else on this forum has said, skin's waterproof, and immediately after my runs I have my first coffee of the day then a lovely hot shower.

ju-ju- profile image
ju-ju-Graduateβ€’ in reply toThe_Fat_Controller

sounds perfect.... my son and i ran ( or rather trotted) in knee deep snow last year which i have to say was rather fun...

The_Fat_Controller profile image
The_Fat_ControllerGraduateβ€’ in reply toju-ju-

Thanks for that ju-ju-, I wouldn't have thought running in snow was possible, but since you've proved otherwise I guess if it snows I'll just play it by ear.

Especially as it means I can have an extra glass of Prosecco for being so noble πŸ˜‚

A gal after my own heart...:) If you like Prosecco.. maybe try the Aldi, Cremant de Jura...it is great.. and cheap :)

I spotted it last year in on of the Sunday Newspaper Mags.... ! :)

Nixmaria profile image
Nixmariaβ€’ in reply toBartontiger

Ahh sounds amazing! We’re going to Scotland, I probably will pack some running stuff. The trouble is once I get into a healthy routine it becomes addictive, so to have a long break could be dangerous and make it hard to get back on track! So yeah it’s a good idea to stick with it at Xmas.

Bartontiger profile image
BartontigerGraduateβ€’ in reply toNixmaria

That was my worry. I do like my food and pop at Xmas so the running will make it less guilty πŸ˜€

I'm going home to the farm for the Christmas period which may put my running on hold a little . Like to go early in the morning but I'm pretty sure hungry calves will have other ideas and want their breakfast first!

Completed the programme on Saturday and have done 2 consolidation runs this week - feel like if I stop, even just for Christmas, it will start the rot of me making excuses not to do it! πŸ™„πŸ˜‚

I hope so, depends on care packages and wotnot. Maybe not actual Christmas Day (though it is such a lovely day to get out there)

My run days are usually Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays so, yes! An excuse to fill my boots once I've done a run in the morning - after present opening of course!

I am on week 7 and am entered into a local charity event on nye πŸ€ͺ so I kind of have to.. I really hope I can keep the motivation up - I feel like I’ve come so far that taking a couple of days/week break would set me back. Plus, diabetes & festive indulgence are a bad mix that never ends well - enjoy the festivities everyone πŸŽ„πŸŽ…πŸ»πŸ€ΆπŸ»πŸŽŠ

I've lost some motivation recently with the cold weather and grey skies, so I'm not sure if I'll use the festive season as an excuse or whether the need to get out the house will spur me on.

I really want to run on Christmas day but all my extended family are here and I can't bear the fact they will go on and on and on about it ......might have to sneak out at 6am and be back before they notice! :) Maybe I could wear jingle bells too, that might make a few kids in the area look out the window:)?
