FAFFAGE- how long does it take you to get out for a run?
Please select one:
Anything more than 5 minutes and I wouldn't go out lol
EASILY an hour π
Absolutely! And I don't particularly faff. Not possible any faster, even with everything laid out and ready to go - there's the cup of tea and the banana to digest first If I have to run later in the day I can be out there a bit quicker ...
During the week itβs fine. I set my alarm for 6 and hit snooze a couple of times. But I know if Iβm not in the shower by 7:30 Iβll be late for work, so I *canβt* faff beyond 6:45.
On a non-work day, especially if for some reason Iβve had to run much later in the day, faffage can run to HOURS. Even if I am in full running gear and ready to go.
I do extra daily exercises because of old age problems. Gives me peace of mind and no injuries or strains so far. A good routine is the by-word.
I can only do my runs after work. I finish at 4pm but have an hour drive. I try to do some simple stretches when I'm changed but usually try to get out by 5.15. wondering how I will feel once the dark evenings and bad weather sets in.
Up to 5mins but thatβs only because Iβm using the treadmill at home
I am still to brave running outside as I am so slow (had my big toe fused a few years back and the consultant told me I would never run again, slowly getting back to running some years down the line). I've had a few false starts since trying to get back on C25K but am determined I will run again whether fast or slow. I still faff before getting on the treadmill though! I have a treadmill at home but occasionally do C25K training at the gym. The last C25K I did my Fitbit thought I was walking I'm that slow! At the end of the day I'm moving and burning calories, that's all that's important!
The gear is always prepared and ready so it's just 'go'.
Currently I think about it for about half an hour, then I lie down till the thought goes away!
This is my favourite, Iβm in stitches!!!
We have an old guy at Woodland Workout, 78π€ he is a scouser,
This is his strategy, he lays there for half an hour thinking about getting up and then rolls over and forgets about it.πππ
Today he was there, first time in weeks , so the strategy works.πππ

Have to fit in between child related duties... grab the opportunity or itβs gone.
Being retired I only go when I am chilled, relaxed, ready and the best I can be. Even if I am not, I tell myself this is your best.
Got three slots in my day, contingency plan.
I am getting slicker now, but generally my preparation and warm down is longer than my slow pace runs.I always resist cutting corners.
Easier for me I know.Less responsibilities.
So about an hour minimum.
But loving it all and do not enjoy my run if I am not relaxed and tension free.

What about 5 - 10 minutes?
10-15 mins because I can't do anything in the morning before I have fed the cat
My alarm goes off at 6, I'm out the door between 6:10 and 6:15. I'm not sure I could actually get dressed, drink water, use the loo and do so quietly so as to not wake my partner or our son quicker than that.
My 15 to 30 mins includes a little bit of lying in after the alarm goes off at 7. I'm out be 7.30 though, after drinking some water and eating a banana. I hope that the time may reduce as I become better at getting up in the morning!
9 minutes to drag myself out of bed... 1 minute to change, get headphones started, trainers on, cap on and out.... go!!!!
When I was running (injury) I'd have my kit ready to go but I'd never run without some dynamic stretches and warm ups so I've included that.
Still managed a Flippin ankle tendon injury though so maybe I should warm up longer!
If it takes longer than 5 minutes I'll not have time to fit it in between my partner getting home from work and the kids bedtime
Have to get changed, deposit clean dog poo bags in 1 side and phone in other side of the bra, connect headphones, start radio and other app, get dog lead on, (by the time I've put my running shoes on she's going mental!!!) lock back door, put key in shed then I'm off!!!
I replied with up to 5 mins, realistically its more like 6/7 mins, but theres no option between up to 5 and 10 to 15
it takes longer as I get older, I have to give my body notice
I do a bit of prep the night before to prevent too much faffidge.......doesnβt always work.....π

I am sure this is aimed at me ju-ju- after my recent performance with the change in the weather. All summer I've been mostly faff-free but the other day when warmer gear was required it seemed to take me an age. This afternoon was more slick as I knew what I needed AND where to find it.
I get up at 5:40am and like to be out by 5:45 because the family starts getting up at 6:15 so I like to be back by then
i replied less than 5 but as some others have said more like between 5-10 otherwise I probably wouldn't do it
Iβve just set aside a drawer with my running stuff in so itβs all ready to go (and not messy and all over the house). Iβve got tops on one side, bottoms on the other, sports bras and socks in the middle and my headphones and phone holder tucked in at the front....but still it takes me about 10-15mins to get ready!! Havenβt quite perfected the order of getting it on yet so end up messing around. Iβm only on week 3 so Iβm hoping to get slicker with time!
15-30 minutes ,especially now it's getting colder and darker. I've got so many things to put onπ
If you had asked in July I would have answered 10-15 minutes π
Spring & summer: I plan in advance - will run tonight or not. My running stuff is in a drawer ready to rock & roll. iPod shuffle is charging in kitchen. The thing that takes the longest is untangling the headphone wires! The whole process takes probably 5-10 minutes.
Autumn & Winter: everything same as above except a bit more faffing with layers, high viz, gloves etc. So a good 10 minutes.
Not so much faffing for 30 minutes but allowing the body to wake up and function.
I have to set my basal insulin to 70% 30 minutes before I run so. Have an excuse!!!!!!!
I get up at a stupid time in the morning to do my run and as it's dark I don't worry about scaring anybody so put on clothes, tie back hair and am gone! If I chose to run in the daylight...it would take much longer!
I prefer to run in the mornings when I can. And when Iβve made up my mind to go, like to get ready & get going. As I work part time I try to run on a non working day, otherwise I think Iβd be too tired to run.
I have everything ready to hand
I count my pre-run coffee as part of the faffage. As I take it black it takes a while to cool...
I procrastinate as much as possible...take 2 trips to the toilet? Have I tied my laces enough? Is the music right or would I rather listen to a podcast? What route shall I take? Is it too cold? Are my leggings going to be warm enough? Will I be too hot in this top? My shoes are getting a bit worn on that bit of the ball of my foot, better put another pair on my Amazon Wishlist whilst I remember... Anything to delay the inevitable. Donβt know why, I always manage to get out the door eventually.
Aaages but I also have to convince the baby and the toddler they want to go for a ride in the buggy and get them ready! Just give the baby once last feed... And then one of them needs another nappy change by that point π
By myself? About five minutes!
Takes me yonks to find a decent set of headphones!!! Lol x
Depending when do you start counting. My just sub-30 min routine starts with the alarm clock waking me from deep sleep and involves a coffee and a toilet stop.
My prep time depends what i have to do before I can run. Ie take kids to school. Usually i dress for a run, do school run, then run. If you count all that it could be 2-3 hours. I wake roughly 5.30-6am and typically step out for my run around 8.30.
If I didn't need to do that it would around 10-15mins x
About twenty minutes but that's from waking up and getting out of bed to going out of the front door.
I can be dressed and ready to go in minutes if I get my π© together. But I like to run in the countryside which is 5 mins drive from home. So most of the time is spent looking for car keys π Once I've parked up, I then faff with getting the music sorted and the app up and running and choosing which celeb to listen to π
